He won his second man of the matcha ward against Nigeria, and yet nobody ever speaks of him when it comes to a list of best defenders.

Along with Gallas he is one of the most underrated defenders in Europe. :thumbsu:

Definetly Arsenals second best player, and probably most important outside of Henry.

Cant wait to see his brother playing, heard alot about him and apparantly he is already better then Kolo, I know Chelsea and Arsenal are fighting over him so we should see him playing next year.

lol, Chelsea have no hope of getting Yaya. And I quote:

"Chelsea is a big club but they can't compete with playing with my brother."

Yaya is a beast of a midfielder. He's around Vieira's height but built bigger, has Kolo's blistering pace, can stick in a thundering tackle, he's basically the midfield version of Kolo. We could never sign him until now because he is only just eligible for an EU passport, we had him on trial at the start of 03/04.

There's another Toure brother, as well.

Yaya was playing for Beveren in Belgium. He then went to the Ukraine and played for Metalurh Donetsk, and is now playing for Olympiakos in Greece.

Their younger brother, Ibrahim, is a striker and is still in the Ivory Coast. But he's only seventeen or so.

Yaya played against us in the pre-season, looked their best player back then and I've only heard good things about him since (seen a little bit of him in the African Cup, has looked good there too).

love it wen he dribbles down the field as they put it a few yrs ago, swashbuckling
brill!

yaya is a gun player and could be one of the best holding midfielders in the world one day.

its been a pleasure watching him week in week out for olympiakos.

ibrahim toure is the younger brother and will join olympiakos next season after trialing with us already.

Enjoy it whilst you can Thrylos - supposedly Yaya has an agreement to go to Arsenal in the summer.

He has played enough internationals to qualify for a work permit and wants to join his brother.

Never in doubt, that - the plan was always to sign Yaya once he got his permit, ditto Eboue. I doubt he'll be the last Ivorian to join Arsenal either, what with our deal with ASEC Mimosas and all. Chelsea were sticking their noses in but Yaya firmly said 'no' - blood is thicker than a roll of cash! :D

Ivorians at Arsenal: Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, Abou Diaby and Johannes Djourou (both born there), and hopefully Yaya Toure.
