PORT Adelaide will be without young playmaker Nathan Krakouer when it heads to Sydney to tackle the Swans on Sunday.

Krakouer, 21, has been a revelation across half-back but the lightly framed West Australian has developed some soreness over the opening eight rounds.

Brett Ebert (back tightness) was put through his paces at training on Friday and coach Mark Williams admitted the small forward was also in doubt for Sunday's game.

"You saw us testing Brett Ebert there as well, so we're not sure what will happen," Williams said on Friday.

"But Krak [Krakouer] has played 14 games in a row and probably needs a break."

Williams said inclement weather in Sydney had made planning for the game difficult, but revealed tall forward Matthew Westhoff would travel with the team as an emergency.

Port Adelaide has dropped its past four games against the Swans, including two hefty defeats at the SCG.

Williams said the Power could take heart from their performance against the Sydneysiders in the same game (round nine) last year.

"We played them [the Swans] twice last year and the first game was really disappointing, but seven games later we played one of the best games we played for the year even though we lost," he said.

"We want to play like that, so it's a really tough, hard, competitive game – we'll be satisfied with that. It'll be a matter of grinding it out and trying to get over the line first."

Williams, who was a coaching apprentice to Kevin Sheedy at Essendon, has been a big advocate of indigenous players in the AFL throughout his career.

On Friday, he paid tribute to indigenous players, past and present, and encouraged the AFL to use the themed round as a fundraiser for Aboriginal health.

"We saw some of the things the AFL did for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal," Williams said.

"I think if we show a leading way with the Aboriginal players all over Australia leading the fight, it [the money raised] would be a great thing to hand back to the communities."

I was planning on trading him out anyway.

Just deciding on whether to bring in Franklin or ROK..

I'm in 2 minds.

Up to premium or down to Sidebottom.

Or do nothing (Walker comes in).

Guess that means I'm in 3 minds. :)

Gonna keep him - should just be a one week thing and hopefully he'll be back refreshed and ready to return to early season form.

Walker comes in for me.

Actually a good thing, would have struggled against Sydney anyway and his price was going to plummet. Ziebell comes off my bench now.

Bastard... i nearly sideways traded him to buddy last week... meh

he will come back re-freshed and ready to return to form, plus, he doesnt drop in value this week :) ill wear the 0

all week i was considering upgrading him to stevieJ. Decided last night to just sit on kraks cause i felt he still had a role to play.

i agree that when he comes back he should hopefully return to form. However, seen as my decision was so close, im just gonna trade him.

I'd be dumping him if I was in your position as well.

I'd be getting on Stevie J before his price goes up significantly. That's what I did :D

Several options;

spend some of the Ableet budget to upgrade to ROK

sideways to Porplyzia

trade the spud thompson to sidebottom or similar

sit it out and wear the zero

I'm happy to do the last option so long as Krac can return to decent form in the next few weeks, but I'm just worried about this supposed move to the forward line and the potential plummet in output that that might cause.

Any thoughts much appreciated (and yes, if I didn't already have SJ I would be doing that in a shot).

Nice. :)

Now at least we get another week before his price starts falling. In a week or two J.Brown will be a very tempting trade for Krak.

It's funny how the week SC week unfolds - all week agonising over the hold-upgrade-downgrade Krak because Broughton was definitely coming into my side as a cash grab

Now in 18 hours Broughton's dropped and Krak's injured meaning that my Krak-Sidebottom trade now becomes the obvious choice

Will still wait on final teams, just in case

Hmmmmm......Hopefully Krackouer is out from "general soreness" for another week or two and Joanthon Brown gets something like a 50 against the Saints. (I have near no money in bank so need a straight trade)
