We would get absolutely pantsed playing all 4. "Mobile for a ruckman" is nothing like a mobile midfielder. We'd get run off our legs.

Agree, Kreuzer as a ruck rover i don't think would work unless we controlled the footy 100% of the time, he would be found out for leg speed when needing to be defensive in that role.

Kreuzer for ruck and swinging/drifting forward makes him very difficult to match up on.

Brock McLean board.

Did i say anything about McLean?

The statement was could Kruezer play as a ruck rover.
I don't think he can, I think Kreuzer is fantastic but I don't think he could keep up with the most fleet footed ruck rovers in the league, when we don't have the ball on our terms.

Next year playing Kreuzer as a forward is an idea I'd be fully supportive of. Coming back from a full knee reco as a 21 year old ruckman would not be easy and we shouldn't rush him back into that role.

Start him up forward and as his confidence grows back, gradually ease him back into the role that he's so suited to - the roaming ruckman/extra midfielder.

I think we are lured into the idea of Kreuz playing as a permanent forward because he's tall, can take a good grab and can kick a bag of goals. I'd love to see him play forward but he's just not suited to that role.

He's far more valuable to us as a ruckman roaming the ground and pushing forward. And that's exactly the role I hope to see him return to when he resumes playing in 2011.

I lol'd at this, I know what you meant though......haha

Kreuzer will be palying pinch hit in the forward line next year, Warnock and Jacobs are better footballers than Hampson. Although Hampson has potential it is only potential. Jacobs you know will be a cosiStent RUCKMAN given the opportunity.

I would rather trade Hampson for something that we need!!

Blues rethink Walker plan
''We believe we have a player in Matthew Kreuzer who could potentially play as a very, very good key forward, which means if he plays forward - and really wherever Matty plays he is going to have an impact - we do not see the need to trade any of our talls,'' Icke said.

''Most clubs will carry three ruckmen on their list and we would expect that we would look to do likewise and keep all of the talls we now have.

''Matthew Kreuzer kicked eight goals for the Northern Knights in a game in the TAC playing key forward, but until now we have just chosen not to play him as a forward, but we have no doubt at all he can be a very dangerous forward.''
Blues rethink Walker plan

I like Kreuzer roaming the ground as another 20 possession midfielder/high CHF who kicks goals. You could see how it hard it was for him to be manned up if he pushed hard and marked within scoring range. You'd almost back him to average 1.5 goals a game with Warnock or Hampson(when fit) as the number one. Kreuzer's disposal and defensive pressure inside 50 is simply brilliant for a player of his size.

Blues' selection dilemma

Asked whether there was room in the forward line to accommodate Waite, Matthew Kreuzer, Lachie Henderson and Andrew Walker, Ratten said: "Yeah, I think there is."

"The loading on the taller players in the competition has increased a fair bit at both ends of the ground."

"We're number one or two for marks inside 50, loose ball gets we're first, hard ball gets we're second and in tackles we're in the top one or two as well."

"We're marking the ball and defending it … but we'll probably have to have a look at the balance going forward."

I love him in the ruck but if he can develop in to an effective high half forward or 'roaming' target he'll be unstoppable.

No one can go with him. The beautiful thing about the four of them (MK, Tex, Waite, Hendo) is that they're all so mobile for their size. :thumbsu:

There is no way in hell that the opposition can run with all of them.
