Let's bite the bullet and free up some room and make a play for Tippett. Has not ruled out a move to Melbourne, solves the 2nd ruck problem and showed his worth in the last final against Hawthorn.

Wellingham goes, No Q-stick and might have to look at 1 more but would be well worth it IMO.

Surprises me we couldnt afford him

Lynch not needed - 220K
Wood delisted - 200K
Swan on vets list - 150K
Tarrant retired - 100K
Buckley delisted - 100K

Seems to me we could throw an offer of 700K and be able to afford it

You still have to replace those 3-4 players and they're not going to play for nothing.

Yep, I think we also signed up a few players this year. Pretty sure most wouldn't have had reduced contracts either.

So Tippett we couldn't afford, without Wellers plus at least one other going. Then at best we would only be around the ball park in dollars. So why would he leave to come here, when he could go home (or stay at the Crows) on the same dillapanos? Maybe for a premiership shot? Reckon he has a fair chance at one at Adelaide.

So no, it ain't going to happen, just no.

I'm fairly confident Kurt wants to go home and will be in GC colours next year. He's homesick

Rumour has it that Sydney and an unnamed Vic club are well in the mix for him.
 
The reality of the salary cap would mean that things are already pretty tight for us... Any room made by the delistings and moves listed above would be absorbed by Cloke and all the other new contracts this year. Need to leave some room for Daisy next year. :)

We would need Didak to retire one year early as well as Dawes, Wellingham, Wood leaving the club and pull our offer to Lynch in order to make it work at least for next season.
