Just caps off his day so far. Pathetic.

Next week will be IN: Mitchell, OUT: Cheney.

Can't wait for Birchall to get back out there.

That kick in the first quarter towards Gunston when he was streaming through the centre square was pathetic. No pressure, plenty of time, clear view of the whole forward line, and he kicks it perfectly to Gunston's opponent.

Other than that missed goal. Thought he was pretty solid! Few fumbles here an there, still a good depth player! Solid defender

now clinton young and murphy are gone, which other fringe players is there to hang it on?

relocate to gold coast or fold kyle!

He was ok, not as bad as some are saying but that's the issue, I can't see him getting any better than what he currently delivers. He is a great VFL, unfortunately I never see him becoming a quality AFL player. I would be glad to be wrong but I can't see it happening

I think you're all being a little harsh with Cheney.

Can't excuse that kick for goal though. He did what so many others do when taking a set shot. He lined up and didn't drop the ball in line with the kicking leg. He dropped itonto the instep and that's why it went off on an angle.

I just cannot believe that footballers being paid 6 figure sums still have no freaking clue how to kick for goal!!!!!

At AFL level he's a step off the pace. Like most young players in their first few games (most recent example Duryea).

Difference is, those other young players grow out of it in 10 or so games, and usually have other redeeming features (Duryea's kicking/aggression, Hill's endurance, etc). Cheney doesn't really have that.

AT VFL level, he's either quicker or stronger than his opponent, and is proficient enough to play to his strengths. At AFL level, his opponents are either as strong, but quicker, or as quick but stronger, and he's restricted into a negating role.

He doesn't offer enough offensively to make mistakes defensively, and he isn't a good enough stopper to play a pure negating role. He was easily WOG in the first quarter, interrupting 3-4 forward thrusts of ours through poor disposal, and being caught out of position defensively as well.

Good to have in the 25-30 grouping, but I think we will always be wondering when he will be replaced by a younger, tastier product.
