With Clarke, Mooney and Yagmoor already being identified as delistees, is that a signal that Martin will be promoted or retained on the rookie list.

2 year deal incoming.;)

He will win our VFL best and fairest for the second year in a row this year, I reckon he's deserved a shot at an AFL career, give him 2 years on the senior list and see what he can do.

At the very least he helps keep our VFL team in the finals each year.

Can anyone provide details of his beep test at state screening or otherwise as that seems to be the Issue.

For mine if he is not close to AFL standard then the decision is unfortunately simple.

Knighter and Dog can you confirm? Knightmare or Snoop Dog

Should have won the VFL league b+f. Seriously, how do you have a 39 possession game, kick multiple goals, run your tagger so ragged that he's taken off you in the first half and get no votes? And to top it off, have said tagger (Jackson) get votes??
I smell a conspiracy .

He will stay on for another year as a rookie he is looking forward to having a full pre-seas after being injured over the last two years. Hopefully his body holds up and he can have a big pre-season and play well at AFL level next year

The whole Liston Trophy night seemed to focussed on players who weren't with AFL standalaone teams.

The fact that no AFL rookie listed or senior listed players were available for selection in the VFL team of the year was a joke in itself.

First time I've paid attention to the count in years, won't be making that mistake again.

And deservedly so Matty.:thumbsu:

I'm just not sure he is AFL standard, I absolutely hope I'm wrong.

That would be great.

However are rookies given only 2 years before being delisted, unsure?

If fellow posters including yourself are correct then he deserves to be retained for the 3rd year on the rookie list.

I'm not a big Martin fan. I would rather him delisted but won't mind if his retained.

Just needs sustained game time to really shine at AFL level, way too good for VFL which tells me it is either his fitness or has not had the time to adjust to AFL.
I reckon leave him in the side for a decent stretch and see whether he steps it up, my bet is that he would slowly work into the tempo of the game and become a very very good player.
What really irks me is how established senior players can have games equal to what Martin would provide with his inexperience, and keep getting chances while Kyle or BK seem to be on the outer while still playing ok.
Game time for players like Martin provide experience, which turns into confidence which becomes familiarity and by then you have a player who may blossom or may bust, but you need to find out for sure either way.

He didn't perform great and the transitional running of AFL vs VFL standard finds him out apparently. Sense I get is everyone on same page and he knows what needs to be done.

I think he has usually been the Sub hasn't he this year. That probably tells you something
