Can anyone give an update on the son of our last premiership captain. Is he looking likely for a f/s pick up?

No chance. Soft outside receiver who jogs along behind play getting easy touches. Not invited to draft camp, not invited to WA state screening. Not worth a rookie spot let alone a draft pick.

Lucky to get a rookie spot to be honest. Its not that he hasnt been good in the colts but there are better players who are not noticed and the only reason he is notived is his name.

He kicked 26 goals this season wich is pretty good for a midfielder come forward

Agree with cogs 24 opinion, have seen plenty of East Freo Colt matches this year, Monty is underdeveloped, not good enough for a F/S would struggle to get a rookie draft selection this year, but isnt a lost cause, I feel his injured shoulder last year has basically set the kid back a full year and he really needs to develop. Because he has a good footy brain and good foot skills

As Cogs said there is too many better kids atm than Monteath but to say he is a soft outside reciever who jogs along behind play :thumbsd: ...... would like to know where this opinion has come from actually.

He needs to work his backside off betwen now and next year if he wants to fulfill his dream though.

Can anyone shed any light on why Bruce left us?

Was the money in the WAFL comparible to the VFL at the time? Could have done with him in 1982

I have vague memories. He was only 25 in 1980 and looked really good against the Vics in 1986 (He would have been in his early thirties) State of Origin match.

We shouldnt reward his son with a place in the side if he is not good enough.

Michael deserved the right to have his son wallow with us for two years but Bruce shouldnt qualify.

He is an undersized key forward, converted into a flanker, who struggles in the midfield.

He is a very good mark for a kid his height. His foot skills are OK. He is not quick enough to play as an outside wingman/flanker. His only chance of getting picked up would be to become a genuine ball-winning onballer.

In the games I saw, there would be a bounce or stoppage, the ball would squirt out to the wing and a group of guys would sprint after it and fight to win it. Monteath would trail after then at a 3/4er jog and stand 5 metres off the pack waiting for the ball to be fed out.

When he rotated through HFF he was very hesitant to leave his position and go into the midfield to help win the ball at times he should have been doing so.

He ain't a natural midfielder and he doesn't have 1/10th of what he needs to be an AFL flanker.

He was homesick

And he was worried about guys like PRR stalking his kids
