Try and get in the new facilities if possible. The rest of the ground is mediocre with there being only 1 bench all the way along the fence and than a very set of seats that would be gone in 20 seconds. Not sure if they will put anything else up or not but you'd hope so, went to the Saints game they had here a few years back and it was far too crowded. Don't think I'll be going personally but will go to all games at PS.

My parents live down in Mandurah and i actually went to that game with the pic i posted. Good damn mighty Falcons getting done by Peel, it was horrible.

Anyway the new facilities are pretty nice but for this game im going oldschool and standing somewhere in the outer to watch. Hopefully have some wet areas where we can stand and abuse Ebert :)

Man i'm seriously considering it on the off chance one of our players wipes out Ebert. Preferably Stevens or JD

A quick question - how much of the oval is grass banks? And what is the capacity?

I'm trying to convince the wife that takeing the two boys (3&1) might be a good idea - but it's only going to work if there is enough space for them to run around. Which means I think I'll be pushing shit up hill

IIRC about 60-70% of the ground is basically grass banks, but saying that the capacity is pretty small. Took my 2yo to the WAFL game and he was able to run around but i doubt there would be much room for that at this game. I was thinking about taking him along but the more i think about it im leaving him with Grandma ;)

Sign got an upgrade after the derby...

I am severely excited to watch ebert play against us. For the first time in a long time im going to get excited when he gets the ball. His shanks shall now become a thing of beauty. And watching him get played by all our other young mids is going to make me very very happy.

Surprised such a "burner" of the ball managed 22 games in such a strong side last year.

Seriously, get over it, he didn't defect, he came home.

His father Craig played for Port Adelaide, his uncles Russell Ebert and Peter Obst played for Port Adelaide, his cousin Andrew Obst played for Port Adelaide, his grandfather Trevor Obst played for Port Adelaide, and his cousin Brett plays for Port Adelaide.

Not to mention, HE played for Port Adelaide.

I always wanted him to come on for us. Disappointed how he left though. Not sure I want him to fail either.
Agree, always a much maligned player for obvious reasons, but skills aside, he's an excellent player.
Will compliment the young Port midfield nicely.

Can't wait til Butcher goes home.

John Butcher isn't 3rd Generation Port Adelaide, not that I anticipate him leaving anyway.

Players move clubs for a variety of reasons. Surely a move to continue a Family lineage is one of the better ones.

But if you want to direct vitriol at another club rather than focusing on the good points of your own, that's your choice.

Port is a shambles. He'll sign the first contract a Victorian club puts in front of him. It would be even more pleasing if the Vic club has first pick in the PSD. Then you can get over it.

Funny, that's what people were saying about your club 2 years ago.

He was out of contract last year and despite my club's "shambolic" position (not dead last mind you), he re-signed with Port Adelaide. As did all our young talent.

Keep enjoying the good times at your club. While they last.

Even when we where performing poorly we where still great off the field.

In saying that I've been a fan of Ports drafting over the last couple of years.

I'd love Port Adelaide to have your clean stadium deal, (as would the Cows).

Two years ago West Coast while finishing last still posted a $4M profit.

Even with their massive supporter base, the AFC, who played off in finals only posted something like $150K. What hope do Port have.

All thanks to 90% of our income going to the leeches called the SANFL.

I for one don't understand the animosity over Ebert - i didn't follow drafting at the time, but we must have known he was a risk.

The reality is Ebert has a number of quality skills he brings to the game - unfortunately kicking isn't one of them. However he is a lovely mark, decent tackler and can run all day.

I would have liked more back for him - but ultimately pick 28 isn't for from what he is worth - which is a good foot soldier.

When he was kicking along the boundary line, the ball had a 50/50 chance of staying in. With this in mind, I will fondly remember the collective groan from Subiaco and the drunken yobbo spilling beer with his wild gesticulating at Eberto.

I wish Ebert the best in games against other clubs. Obviously I want the Eagles to destroy him and Port each time we play them.

But it will be interesting to see how McInnes goes in comparison to Ebert. I think McInnes will definitely be filling a need once Lynch goes.

I think Ebert will have a good year and I'll be cheering for him when watching Port.

He's an ohk player and played in a position where we lacked depth last year. Ive always disliked him as a player (decent bloke) mixture of his face and his footskills which are bad enough that i did start shouting at the tv for him to handball it especially when near the boundary line. I am happy he is gone and have been calling for him to be traded the last year or two. He in my oppinion was always taking the place of a more talented player in our midfield and on the flank eg, stevens, sheppard, masten and to a degree swift.

Jesus are we still talking about Ebert? He's a Port player not, he's goneski.

I'll be happy to see him succeed at Port in whichever role he plays, let's not pretend we had him earmarked as the future Daniel Kerr and he screwed us over leaving the club or anything. He asked to go to his home city to a club with strong family connections and we traded him there for an OK (not wonderful but given where Port finished as good as we were likely to get) return.

In 2011 he was a (valuable) role player and his contribution will need to be replaced. It's an opportunity for someone like Hill, Strijk, Hams etc. who isn't burdened with being a #13 draft pick to stand up and make a HF/occasional midfield role their own. Hopefully one of them stands up.
