What are the criteria for the FiveAA rising star?So this guy is still eligible for the rising star and Bicks gives him 2 votes today in fiveaa player of the year award. Needs to be 21 or under on 1st of January and played 10 or less games. Yet he said only Rowe, Berry and Butts were eligible today so gave them each a vote as couldnt split them. Umm Sholly Bicks. Hamill as well are both eligible. Rowey is not as turned 21 last year.
Wasn’t Geelong very keen on him? It’s not like they’d play him anyone? They’d want someone in the 34-35 year old age bracket
They've got their quota of young players. We'll trade him to them when he's 32 and cooked.Rumour has it that they were.
Who can blame them, looks like a star in the making at the moment.

Start of the season is 1 January, so he is eligible.Rules for AFL rising star are
Rising Star criteria
Players must be 20 or younger and have played fewer than 10 games at the start of the season.
Like the Brownlow Medal, players who are suspended are ineligible for the award, though they can still be nominated.
Now Sholly turned 21 in March so may not be eligible for afl rising star this year
He doesn't shirk a contest like Rory Atkins or get done holding the ball multiple times a match so that's already an upgradeTo keep adding to the exciting parts of Sholl, the two question marks he had when he was drafted was contested game, and defensive work.
He's been averaging 26-28% contested ball rate, and is winning about 4.25 ground ball gets per game. His defence whilst still below average for tackles, he's putting on 14 pressure acts a game which is league average (NB: The stats that are now available for free on afl.com.au are very in depth).
He's really starting to get to the point he's just average in his deficiencies and elite in his strengths.

You also forgot he actually loves to lay a tackle too.. unlike dear old Rory “i’m too precious to tackle” Atkins..He doesn't shirk a contest like Rory Atkins or get done holding the ball multiple times a match so that's already an upgrade
The commentators yesterday were very complimentary of his development so far and game yesterday, especially David King and Chief. This kid is a gun
Thankfully our club doesn't need to have former players endlessly hyping up players because if Sholl was at Port you can bet your bottom dollar that both Kane and Dwayne would be massively hyping up Sholl as one of the best youngsters in the AFL and putting massive pressure on his shoulders.
It's actually nice to have Sholl developing like he is and still be under the radar to some degree,
I have little doubt that he'll end up being one of the elite wingmen of the comp.
Did you forget about Mackay in 2009 and especially that Collingwood final? Not saying Sholl will go the same way but both had showed just as much at the same stage of their careersOnly a dozen games in and he is already a massive upgrade on two of our recent "run & carry" specialists - Atkins and young MacKay.
