I've never said they were unbeatable. In fact I predicted seven of their nine losses for the season. Admitingly, the two that I didn't predict have already occured, which could be a worry, but 73-9 is still a possibility.

The most important thing is the Lakers three peat this season, so they can beat Minneapolis' and Chicago's three-in-a-row record the following season. Of course only the Celtics have surpassed that, and that is the Lakers aim for the future, but that is a couple of years down the track. If they win the Championship, and beat Chicago's 72-10 it will be a bonus, and may once and for all shut Jod up.

For your information I started going for the lakers in 92/93 which was when the lakers were on a downward spiral, I was a magic johnson fan and have even seen him play live when he came to australia in the early 90s. Everyone was going for the cool teams like the bulls, magic, hornets etc and I stuck by my lakers, even when magic was coaching them and they werent going too well, then my loyalty paid off when the likes of van exel and jones got us into the playoffs in about 95 and we have gone from there with jerry wests great acquisiton of shaq to lead us to 2 titles, so stick that up your a** before you make ill informed comments !

It wont matter if the Lakers win 4 in a row and beat the Bulls and Minneapolis' records...Jordan technically won 6 straight, just not in consecutive years. When Jordan played a whole season he won 6 straight, he was just retired in between.

I know its only speculation but i think Chicago would have tied Bostons record of 8 straight had Jordan not retired. He won 6 Houston got 2 while he was on a hiatus...he probably would have done it...shame really.

Oh and the Lakers still wont beat 72 - 10.
