The word is we may be chasing big Lance, what do you all think about this.
According to the Inside Football Magazine we will be chasing him.
If so what is your opinion, i think we should chase him if we don't have to pay his full salary.
What would we have to give for him?

Would get exploited for his lack of speed at Subi, could get him in as the new fitness and conditioning coach to help Polly and Thornton to "Bulk Up" ;)

this is the 1st yr in quite a few he'll have uninterupted pre-season.

he has very very good endurance, no matter what ppl say, he plays his best footy when he has space to lead into and its not crowded ... which is why he is struggling at the blues, we play a tighter brand of footy ... he would be well suited to sides like freo, geelong, brisbane, west coast, richmond who are all interested in him.

we will be offloading him so it wont be easy as pie to get him, but it would be worth it IMO ... i feel sorry for him cos he just hasn't responded to dennis's game plan and needs a fresh start.

if we did a deal with u we'd be after one of ur ruckman, symonds or longmuir (longmuir has already been linked with us) ... plus maybe another player plus one of our pick ... not really sure.

IMO he will leave melbourne, either to brisbane or the eagles, but u guys could snare him if the price is right .... trust me u guys need a guy like lance!!! atm we have fevola and he doesn't seem to complement lance like hammil did.

cheers

Nothing in your jumper works :p

Now I know why I thought you were a girl. You can be such a Bytch sometimes E4E. ;)

Seriously, the idea isn't as silly as it sounds. Carlton need a ruckman , we have Snake who originally came to us to be No 1 ruckman.

Lance is a very smart CHF who for one reason or another doesn't seem to Gell with Pagans game plan.

If they chuck in Brett Johnson as well it would be win win.

Doubt we would need/want Johnson... he is similar to Dylan Smith and even though his ball winning ability is very good, his disposal is sub standard and has too many limitations. He is also too small and that's the last thing we need.

Whitnall though could be worth a shot. I'd definitely trade Snake for him. It is a bit of a risk but Whitnall at his best is an exceptional player (although he hasn't been at his best for 3-4 years). He needs to really work on his fitness but it's worth a punt.

Simmonds for Whitnall & Johnson would be win-lose.

Simmonds & Medhurst for Whitnall & Johnson would be win-win.

I always thought Lance would be a chance (excuse the rhyme) to come to Freo early in the season when I was trying to work out which forwards at other clubs could possibly come and fill the gap we have.

Longmuir for Lance? No way.
Simmonds for Lance? Could be worth a shot. Maybe we could also get Mott (damn there goes that rhyming again) as a backup ruckman.

Thanx for you input poo jabber but the monkey isn't going any where.
Lance Whitnall??? FFS people, listen to you selves. This bloke is a log.

I would like to see Freo go after Lance. It would make the off season a little more interesting, for us bigfooty people anyway.

He's kinda the opposite of Croady. They should have had a sitcom where they share a flat. Maybe hes better off at the Hawks, then at least Crawf would get a part.

In my opinion we should chase him, his maket value would've dropped substantually. The only thing that worries me is his salary.

I think if we can get him and he has an uninterrupted pre-season he'll be exactly what we need.

i am sooooo pleased we never offloaded this log ;)

I bet you are, he's on fire at the moment, easily the best player of the wizard wok so far. However Freo are probably lucky that they didn't pick him up because I don't think he would have taken the next step up if he had of been traded. He never wanted to leave Carlton and by what ever good fortune, he hung on for a second life by the skin of his teeth. He's grabbed that opportunity now and I think he will turn into that Champion the Carlton supporters have always thought he could be. You've got to tip your hat to Denis Pagan on this one, first Fevola and now Whitnall, he certainly knows how to make em.

If Whitnall and Fevola continue their form, the Blues will be a very high chance at the top 8.. which surprises the hell outa me because they have a fairly average side.

Awesome 2 forwards though, and one of the best coaches in the business.

yep i agree roger for Pagan to get the best out of blokes like Fevola, Whitnall ,and even Houlihan is just a testament to the mans player management skills . and for him to take a team that was a virtual basket case and turn it around like he has done shows he rates as one of if not the best coaches going around .

He is certainly Top Shelf when it comes to Coaches, just imagine what he could do with the Dockers!
