Once upon of time, this sort of article from a player would have given me hope. It seems we have seen a million of them in the past 5 years though. Actions speak louder than words and actions are the only thing that will provide that hope now.

We have been..........very, VERY patient.
The anger on this board is due to this sort of comment.
Its a cop out.
We should have been much better than what was dished up on Saturday night, and after 6 years of waiting we have been very patient and NOW the players must start to deliver.
We are not expecting flags, but we are expecting the senior players to lead by example, hit targets, give 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts when the ball is in dispute........and continue to run until they need to spew.

I'm sorry but I disagree with this. It wasn't the young players on the weekend that dropped off but rather the people we would call senior players: Simpson, Carrazzo, Scotland, Stevens. This is where we lost it - in the middle.

I hate this sort of article, the fans have to be patient says Houla, well guess what Houla? the senior players have to put in a bloody four quarter effort and have a red hot go instead of giving up every week midway though the second quarter!!

What I'm saying is that the senior players should be doing their upmost to set the example for the youngsters.
Enough of the excuses for these guys.. if they are not totally committed, then we need to let them go
They need and hour or two in a room with some of the old greats and could open up a go through them and explain what the CFC on the front of their jumpers means to them. They never took it for granted, they always bleed for the club. All we have is spineless, selfish clowns who only care about the glamour and the bucks not us the faithful, most loyal supporters (look at past memberships numbers) in the AFL who has understood what we got and believe it probably was fair but now WE HAVE RUN OUT OF EXCUSES.

who exactly would you let go out of our senior list? Do we even have any seniors in the team? That's half the bloody problem. We have Houlihan, Fev, Stevens, Judd, not many others, i would hate to see what we're like if we cut these players loose.
He is correct about the scoreboard pressure. A better team would have been up by 50 points at quarter time with all our chances. Instead we didn't take our chances and turned the ball over resulting in them kicking a few goals themselves.

Well Hoola maybe if you toughen the **** up and stop talking shit we would listen. For 6 ****ing years I have been hearing the same shit, I am sick of paying the wages of players who don't give a **** about us the fans only how much money they can get out of us, enough is ****ing enough.
What pisses me off is the actual football we are playing. It has been crap and I havent enjoyed it at all. There were games last year like against Port Adelaide where we were 45 odd points down and we came storming back to hit the lead. We were playing good, hard and most importantly exciting footy. Our skills were much better and even though we lost I was still optimisitic.
After watching the last two games I hate to say it but my optimism is fading as I watch skill error after skill error and shocking decisions being made. Its up to the players now, I refuse to believe they are that bad. They seriously need to have a good hard look at themselves and train the house down, bring the skills up to the level we expect.

Listen I am sick of bullshit coming out of their mouths I have followed, supported this team for 3 decades now. I have a right to speak my mind, I have paid my hard earned to this club without fail every season. I have always brought my membership without fail. I have stood by them for 6 years, I have cried and had my heart broken like most fans the last 6 years. I have had enough of lame excuses, same bullshit each year and for this dud to come out and ask us for patience and saying shit like yeah we tried for 2.5 quarters and then we got over run takes the ****ing cake. jeez this sounds like de Ja vu for me. everyone in unison condeming the players just as last year it was Pagan. I won't say much to defend them b/c it would be a pointless task except that if u think we are in the same league as the Saints u are mistaken. I thought 40 points accurately reflects the diffrence in talent between the two sides. some really promising signs from our youngsters. The backline guys who everyone thought were going to be towelled up and also Murphy and Gibbs. I guess they hav no pride in the jumper though . At the end of the day some clear signs are young group are developing but people on this board just want it all now.

bwaaaaaaahahhhhhhhhhhh. 6 years u poor thing u. Saints fans have been waiting about 50 for a flag. I hav seen 5 Blues flags in my lifetime which is better than most clubs. Hence I am prepared to cut the club some slack now while they right their ship. Stop your whinging and go and support our young team.

Yeah and you know why Saints fans have been waiting for over 50 years for a flag? Because they accepted losing as a culture and look at them now even with a good team they cant make a impression on the finals. For a great club like Carlton 6 years is too long, so maybe you should go support the Saints since you seem to think that the same excuses every year is good enough. The great CFC is a sham these days we have players on our list who have been there for a long long time and have done nothing or showed nothing, they are just good at making excuses. But I guess most people on here accept losing and are willing to tolerate the shit we get every week, every season.
Just 4 Quarters thats all I ask for not 2.5 not 3.4.....4 that number should be an easy on given sticks used to wear and play hard for 4 quarters. Gibbs played 4 as well but we never ever do it as a team anymore.

There you go that is all I want, commitment, courage and 100% for 4 quarters, none of us expect them to go win a flag in the next few years all I ask of them is to win 6 - 8 games and show commitment to the cause and to the CFC. I am not asking for much and I am asking them to win 26 games, I am just sick of the same all excuses and same old shit.
having expectations in line with your talent base does not mean u are adopting a losing culture. Like it or not there are times when clubs hav to rebuiild and go through tough times like we are atm. Most of the other young guys IMO are coming along quite nicely considering the rabble they were drafted in to.
