Just read that Elshaugh, Liberatore and Mitchell have avoided the cut. Porbably not a bad thing as the list was terrible. Not much for them to work with. The Bullants did very well so Mitchell deserves another crack I guess. They are said to be keen to get another assistant coach and a ruck coach - about time! Who do you think would be best for us to get for these two roles?

4th assistant coach -
ruck coach -

Also, looks like Lukey Power is gone for us. The Blues are going to still take a hard line on the senior players and contracts. Players over 23/24 won't be given big fat contracts. The Club has also said they will plan for the future with a 3-5 year plan, developing kids through the draft.

It all sounds good I think. The board seem to be taking the right direction on these matters.

They are said to be hopeful of Whitnall staying but with Fevola, although contracted, are open to offers.

WCE, Adelaide, Geelong, StK, Melbourne and a few others might be keen so what is reasonable and realistic for Fevola?

WCE - Kerr?
Adelaide - Hentschel, Reilly & draft pick?
Geelong - Bartel?
St Kilda - S.Fisher & Goddard?
Melbourne - Jamar & pick 12?

need a ruck coach- salmon (he has turnded us down alredy), matthew clarke
would like to see the 4th assistant be a defensive coach

have heard that WCE don't want FEV, would love to have Kerr at carlton in 2006 but i think this is wishful thinking

happy with the hard line on senior player contract lengths and the scaling back of fat contracts, there needs to be a more even spread

2005 was the 1st year of our re-build wit the kids we drafted, still a long road ahead

at the time i don't think anyone realised how much the penalties were going to hurt us and in hindsight we may have gone for more youth than recycled players but really our hands were tied there, so can't complain too much

Speak for yourself...............the on field inpact was obvious.........aging list, no quality kids already on the list, ongoing salary cap pressures. The off field impact was probably harder to imagine.

Its amusing hearing fellow Carlton supporters excited about our kids. Sure a few of them have shown a bit but lets not kid ourselves, none of them have exactly set the world on fire. So to say the future looks bright is a little far fetched at this point in time. Lets just see where they are in 2 years. Which follows on to my next point:

******** Fev off for draft picks so we can hopefully snare a couple of kids with genuine talent instead of preying our current group of kids will be there in 5 years.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Fev will be traded too...and not Whitnall.
All this certainty about Fev staying could be a rouse designed to not look to desperate...therefore making offers higher. The signs a month or so a go were all pointing to Fev leaving. Also can't see Whitnall walking out on a club his dad played at for 50 grand more. Anyway, the speculation we be over in 10 days!
If we were offered something like Bartel and their 1st round draft pick for Fev I would probably take it. Or Goddard and Parker as mentioned elsewhere.

The thing is that the team is pox....many of these players would actually look awesome with a top team carrying them. So having to slog it out without this benefit is going to do them a lot of benefit.

There is a genuine lack of faith, ..... I am aware of where we finished, but our team is a LOT better than people realise. A lot. Adding four or five good players to this team is going to do wonders. If we kept Lance and Fev and picked up through the draft we would perform very well next season......losing them for extra picks means we will do EXCEPTIONALLY well the season after.

I say trade them for picks as long as they are picks that are worth it eg. first round and second round picks.

Agree totally, then even use those pick to trade for better players and for players who want to play for the blues.

trade campo, houla, and lance for draft picks.....it wont take to much out of the side with walker taking campos spot as a running backmen, houla does nothing and we will have to develop a kid to take lances spot maybe Setanta.

good point, he could fill that role quite well. Do you think he will bulk up this pre-season.
