Ok im looking to buy a new television for my room. I currently have a small tv in there which is fine its just its quite old now and i want to put my ps3 in there its just i heard there isnt much point having it on a crap tv, therefore i am looking for a new tv. All i want is one around 48cm and don't want to pay that much. Could anyone recommend any half descent cheap brands or any places i can get one cheap for?I've seen a Dick Smiths brand one that looked good but then i heard they are absolute crap.

If you are just using it for the PS3 you could probably use a LCD computer monitor.

I am going to assume you watch TV on it too - looking on The Good Guys website they have small LCDs for under $650, and you could probably lower the price more if you pay cash.

I got a really cheap CRT TV that is DSE brand - it does the job, thats all I can say.

Or if you wanna watch TV on it. you could buy a TV tuner card and a monitor.

22" ACER monitor is only like $300

Although. You have to make sure the monitor you get is HDCP compliant. Otherwise it WON'T work with the PS3.

My 22" acer is 300 at www.cnettech.com.au (they've got stores all around victoria) and it works at 720p on the ps3.

You have to go to 24" to get 1080P though.

Yeah i watch a bit of TV on it, i got a digital set top box and watch a movie every now and again but mostly it will be used for the ps3. The computer monitor sounds like a great idea. Its just how does it work? Do you need special cables for it or what?

What i do is with my Acer 22" is plug my PC into the analogue connection and use a HDMI -> DVI cable for the PS3. and then just use the monitors settings to change from ps3 to pc.

Then to watch TV on the monitor. you'd have to install a TV capture card in your PC(can range from 50-300) and then plug an antenna into the card and you watch tv through your PC. your PC/Capture card acts as a Set top box.

Yeah right now its on a 42 inch LG plasma. The plasma is really old, you no the ones foxtel used or they may still use them i dunno, at there exhibitions at shopping centres. Yeah anyway thats a little old it doesnt have HD or anything and its got the foxtel on it so everyone is on it when i want to use the ps3 so i decided i may as well put it in my room and just get a good tv. I think i am just gonna buy an LCD tv instead of a computer screen. I already have surround sound, dvd player which is in the amp, digital tv and a ps2 in my room so i thought i may as well complete it with a good tv and ps3:thumbsu:

I got a 26 inch HD integrated LCD for $899 and it's great. Is it possible to be in love with a machine?

Thats a good deal. Ive been offered that LG 42 inch plasma for 1000 bucks. Its just its too old with no HD and will probably only last another couple of years
