If I was mod this would already be in the Backyard.

Vote Riggy

I would vote for you on that basis. I know it should go there, but wanted it to be seen as I need an answer. Been bugging me for years.

I am not sure if your answer is the one I want:p

Le Cornu's promotes it is the "World's Biggest" but what does it have that is the World's Biggest??

Ikea is a similar size, the carpark is not that big, could it be the Kiddies Ball Crawl???

Does anyone actually know??

Maybe worlds biggest bunch of incompentents. After the hell I went through picking up an entertainment unit at their bulk store - after insisting I pick it up there, they don't specify which bulk store and then had to ring through to the Keswick store to finalise the payment (you'd think they'd have payment facilities at the bulk stores) - I'll be doing all my future furniture shopping from Ikea.

Ikea is like a well oiled machine. Just can't go wrong :thumbsu:

Riggy, just noticed we live on the same road. It's a big road but the same one nevertheless :)

IKEA is great. People complain about the shotty quality of some of the products, but you build it all yourself so you just make it better lol.

Le Cornu's is now pretty much an expensive version of IKEA, except instead of getting the goods from the pick-up area yourself you have to deal with Le Cornu's shoddy bulk stores. However, it's still flatpacked and the instructions aren't as clear as IKEA's.

In terms of quality, IMO they're on par with each other - people can't really complain about shoddyness if they build it themselves

Ikea gets a big fat meh from me. Great idea, put it together yourself, cheap etc. but in reality, the quality is real bad. Personally I find the designs pretty average. Its great for smaller stuff like buying drinking glasses etc. but id never buy furniture there. Id rather spend more money at a quality place and know that its not going to fall to pieces.

Le Cornu furniture is meh as well. Very old fashioned. We bought two nice modern floor rugs there but the bed settings and furniture did nothing for me.

really. Everything I've bought is fine.

I think its just the skill of the person putting it together :p

I've bought quite a few things from Ikea. For what you pay, it is top value. A friend who was moving overseas gave me a couch/sofa thing bought from Ikea, and it would have to be the most comfortable thing in my whole house. If you want stuff that's gonna last for 10+ years, don't go there, but it's a top place for young people with a budget. Their Swedish meatballs are pretty tasty too.

Worlds biggest old Valiant factory?

I was going to suggest world's biggest concentration of bogans per square foot, but Bunnings on a Saturday has that title sewn up.
Is Le Cornu's the one with the Red Baron's plane hanging from the ceiling? And the staff uniforms with the circa 1982 red jackets?

You got it. The decor also hasn't been touched since about 1982 either. I went there in November for the first time in about 7 years and besides the removal of the doors heading into the showroom, nothing had changed! In fact, the place looks pretty much identical to what it was when I was young enough to use the ball room!

Maybe it's the world's biggest collection of circa 1982 red jackets :D

Hey I shop at Bunnings occasionally!

Depends what you buy. I stick with the very cheap homewares, or good furniture. Their cheap furniture lines cut too many corners on quality, I think - but their better stuff really is good design. You do (hilariously) often see Ikea pieces used in expensive design magazines.

Haha so do I, sadly. Usually upon threat of death, but still. And I'm talking about the Mile End Bunnings here, I don't mean to tar all of Adelaide's fine Bunnings establishments with the same bogan brush.
Having worked a little bit at Parafield Bunnings, it is definitely bogan central. The place has never been cleaned and is terribly disorganised. The speed some of the people drive their cars/SUVs through the carpark is quite alarming. Marion Bunnings is actually 100 times more organised, cleaner and the staff are much friendlier.

And as for Le Cornu, my brother and I were banned from the ballcrawl/child minding room (about 12 or 13 years ago) as we repeatedly caused trouble and eventually escaped. :D

I recall the old Le Cornu's in North Adelaide had a plaque out the front proclaiming it had the world's biggest "Non-Reflective Curved Glass Window"

Does that count?
