Well I thought it was about a time I started a thread. I was reading another thread recently and the comment was made about the lack of goals scored by the crows since NC has started coaching. There is a feeling around the AFL that we dont have enough firepower which will result in us being part of the 13-16 group on the ladder.

Our two most likelies, Welsh and Stevens [M], are injury prone. We dont really have a genuine good crumbing forward and might have to rely on Roo, Macca and Goodie putting a few through. I realise that in the team structure it doesnt matter who scores the goals, but you need to have players that you know can kick a few goals on a regular basis.

After some thought I'll go Welsh and will reserve my judgement on how many - but as a barometer - if he gets well over 50 we will have a good season - less than 40 and we will probably be well down the ladder!!

I'd like to see more of Burton up forward which is why I included him in the list.

OK I am going to sit on the fence a bit here :p

If Stevo stays fit I would pick him as a leading goal kicker this year and I will say 50-60 goals.

Having said that I think Welsh is a safe option and he will kick 40-50. If he can stay injury free he is more than capable of kicking 50+

Then I'll tick Stevo for you then? :p

i reckon Welsh will push for the 50 mark providing he can play 15+ games.

Welsh - 45 goals
Stevens - 27 goals
Perrie - 22 goals
Hentschell - 22 goals
Roo - 18 Goals
McLeod - 15 goals
Edwards - 15 goals
Burton - 13 goals
Goodwin - 13 goals

Bloody mind-reader!! :D

Stevo easily if he stays sound, and I'll go for 57 goals if that's the case.

Welsh to kick 43, and be either 2nd or the leader in the goalkicking depending on Stevo's fortunes.

Co-incidentally, that adds up to a nice round 100 between them. ;)

how did you come up with the odd numbers like 27,22,18,13 etc? Basically we need another 40+ player to be in finals contention i think

Welsh 50+
Stiffy will play down back more often than not
Biglands 20+
Stevo 40+
Trentschel 20+
no small players in that group! - about says it all re our stocks [or lack of] of a quality small forward with goal sense!

Bring back Peter Vardy or Troy Bond etc!!

Right on!!

Apart from our resting mid-fielders, we just don't have anyone for this role - it's certainly not Schuback, who couldn't get a crumb off a fish finger!! ;)

That's another one to put on the list for this year's draft - a quick small crumbing forward.

I think we should have been looking for one of these 2-3 years ago, maybe a good option for a rookie player.

Welsh will kick 60 odd, 30 ahead of stevo and perrie about the 25 mark.

Welsh will win it, however, if Stevens had both an injury free and in-form season, the he would win easily.

re: Crows needing a small crumber up forward who can kick goals... the Crows should have picked up S. Motlop when they had the chance, he reads the play very well, has good hands, and can kick some amazing goals

last year he was fantastic for the Roosters, kicked some classy goals.. instead he has now gone to Melbourne.. the Crows recruiting staff need a shake up

Last thing we need is a 26 year old ;)

Guarantee Stevo will not kick anywhere near 50-60 goals.

He will be focussed as a key attacking forward by opposition clubs who will most likely attract their best defender (thus hopefully freeing up Hentschell)

He does not have enough tricks in his bag to kick that total.

Age irrelevant again (gee everyone is paranoid on age)

The question in the opinion of AFC was "is he good enough" and "does he fill a need in the team"

The AFC think no, Melbourne think yes - that's what decision making is about - one club will be proven correct and one will not ;)
