I was wondering if anyone out there is aware of who our leading goalkickers are this year. We never seem to have anyone in the top afl list - and that's not necessarily a bad thing either.

Is there a place where we can check these stats?

1. Andrew McLeod 23 Adelaide 23
2. Mark Ricciuto 32 Adelaide 22
3. Ian Perrie 22 Adelaide 20
4. Graham John**** 18 Adelaide 18
5. Christopher Ladhams 40 Adelaide 18
6. Ronnie Burns 8 Adelaide 18
7. Wayne Carey 18 Adelaide 16
8. Tyson Edwards 9 Adelaide 16
9. Scott Welsh 17 Adelaide 14
10. Brett Burton 24 Adelaide 13
11. Mark Stevens 19 Adelaide 11
12. Simon Goodwin 36 Adelaide 9
13. Ken McGregor 16 Adelaide 6
14. Rhett Biglands 35 Adelaide 6
15. Tyson Stenglein 20 Adelaide 6
16. Mark Bickley 26 Adelaide 5
17. Jason Torney 29 Adelaide 5
18. Matthew Bode 10 Adelaide 4
19. Nathan Bassett 8 Adelaide 3
20. James Gallagher 0 Adelaide 3
21. Brent Reilly 33 Adelaide 3
22. Ben Rutten 43 Adelaide 3
23. Nigel Smart 7 Adelaide 3
24. Michael Doughty 11 Adelaide 2
25. Matthew Clarke 4 Adelaide 1
26. Kris Massie 0 Adelaide 1
27. Martin Mattner 39 Adelaide 1

Thanks Jars

Hmm - perhaps it is a worry that our best two players are scoring the most goals! - seems a bit like my old school teams! :)

I guess it reflects our forward line problems re lack of personnel at certain times too.

How many games has Bode missed? I would have expected more from him.

I'll go for Sarge to top the goal kicking list,

Could any one of us have predicted Ian to play the way he has this year & improve his kicking technique by at least 110%??

Always knew he could do it,

I have to be the first one to say that I didn't think he would improve this much. I always thought he had a great work ethic and good pair of hands but apart from that his kicking and ground level skills were bugger all. His kicking has improved out of sight. He is a lot better from set shot and his kicking in field play and on the run seems to be improving as well. I still have a query on his ground level skills but I guess that will take time.

This time last year I would cringe when he is having a shot at goal. Now I am reasonably comfortable.

Yeah, of course you did noddy!!! We all did!!! ;)

Seriously, none of the players we all nominated as the big improvers such as Rutten, Hentschel etc have had much of an influence at all.

The 2 big improvers without a doubt are the 2 former ugly ducklings in Perrie and Shirley. Well done to these 2 boys.

Jars has done a great job with Perrie's set shots for goal. The establishment of a set rythmic run-up has made Perrie a reasonably reliable shot for goal (bye bye helicopter punts :D )

Sarge has to be the favourite :)

Seriously, could this be the year when the lowest total to win the AFC 'goal'den boot award is posted? (40 by Fudd in 2001)

Definetly!!!!!!

No one is going to kick 40+ this year.

Which doesn't really matter, as long as a whole bunch of players kick 30+. One focus just makes life easier for the opposition in my view. Still, kind of ironic that we all expected that this year our club would have a settled and potent forward 6, instead we've been ravaged by injuries and it is likely that whomever wins the top boot award will probably have about 35 goals to his name.

Ah footy.......
