I would appreciate those that have purchased recent 2012 TV if they could tell me which is the best for watching the AFL and for their reasons.
Thanks.

Have not purchased a 2012 TV but plasma will always win this discussion. Just handles all the movement, etc that AFL (as well as Rugby, Netball and Soccer) can throw at a TV better as opposed to LCD/LED which can ghost badly.
I know you mentioned a 2012 model but if you can track down a Panasonic GT30 or VT30 or a Samsung D550, D6900 or D8000 you will not be disappointed.
Sorry to mention in your last paragraph for Samsung are you referring to the Plasma or LED?Have not purchased a 2012 TV but plasma will always win this discussion. No worries at all.Sorry to mention in your last paragraph for Samsung are you referring to the Plasma or LED?
Thanks much appreciated.![]()
Plasma is much better for speed where LED (which a LCD with a LED backlight is pretty much) keeps a blue. Only problem with Plasmas is burn in - especially with the footy. The score board burns into the screen for a few mins. Doesnt take long for anything to burn in either.
Some plasmas have Pixel Shift which moves the pixels to try and prevent that.
^^ a few myths above.
- Plasma's don't burn in... haven't for some time now. 4 years ago I've read a comprehensive study showing that for plasmas to burn in you would need to have them on the same image for something like 48+ hours. Doesn't happen unless you have a plasma in a public venue like a sports bar etc.
From the same study 4 years ago... plasmas were better for movies, deeper blacks/shadows etc, watching in darker rooms and better for sport (due to refresh rates). LCDs were better for day to day viewing, watching in well lit rooms, but at the time not as good for sport because of refresh rates (around 50Mhz). However, i do believe LCD refresh rates have since improved to at least 100 Mhz which helps for fast live sport action. Plasmas also normally come in the bigger sizes and LCDs smaller.
HTH
It can. Netball on OneHD will look miles better than AFL on seven. AFL has a fair bit more going on the screen, is broadcast outside etc. If you saw the Blues Done game on an LED you wouldn't even still be tossing up. Trust us, get a plasma.I watched a netball game on the LED TV in the store and it looked fine to me.
Does it depend on the sport?
200mHz is not a refresh rate but rather a frequency. Thanks Kaysee, the Samsung LED 65 inch E8000 has a refresh rate of 200mHz which I am assuming would be fine.
no brainer. plasma. deeper blacks. higher contrast. smoother motion. more natural colours and skin tones. larger viewing angle.
everyone here are fighting, just chill.. etc spam removed.
Think that guy (footy footo) works for LG. Plus, who's fighting?I've had a LCD for 4 years now. No problem with the footy or PS3?
Don't agree, LED TV's have come along way since their inception.Plasmas are way better (spoken from someone who works in the field)
They are able to handle the motion of sports alot better, better colour reproduction, better contrast ratio ect.
The Panasonic Plasma range is the way to go
