Pfft.

If u booed all di*kheads, u would need to boo Mensch & Milne.. but u dont.. so obvisouly.. u envied Carey because he was such a good player and wanted Colbert back.

Go Roos

Geelong supporters....
I have never heard a more bitter and twisted bunch. Just listen to yourselves

I think the AFL should allocate some funds to all Cat fans.
They obviously suffer from some sort of weird obsessive compulsive disorder over Colbert.

Me thinks they need some professional help ;)

Im not hurting over Colbert's actions, we have certainly done better out of the deal. His career effectively came to an end when his knee gave way, over three years ago now  .

But I will continue to 'Booo' him. What he did was gutless. He walked out on his club at its hour of greatest need, just because he wanted a quick premiership. That's why he went straight to the Roos and ignored all other offers, they were the premier team at the time.

If it was any other player I would feel sorry for him, he had so much potential and good football ahead of him until that fateful day during the 1998-99 pre-season. But Colbert, you deserve everything that has come your way. May you drift off into the sunset and be quickly forgotton by the football world  .

Hell, he probably hates Colbert more than he loves Geelong....and isn't that pretty damn sad.

Again, obviously you can't read either.

Ask JubJub who is the first person to defend Leigh on the GFC MsgBoard.

I shall repeat myself, Leigh Colbert is still one of my favourite players, and i completely understand why he left.

You are way too sensitive, you can't handle any criticism, and when you couldn't find anything to disagree with in my post you decided to come up with this crud, the same old 'bitter Geelong fan' line yet you have absolutely no basis to say that i hate Leigh.

I'd expect better from you Shinners.

BTW Bruns, stop being a tool.

Yes Phat is a Colbert fan [WHY ? :D ]

I wonder how long Anthony Stevens and Glenn Archer will be so gracious about being paid $150,000 less then the croc that is now Leigh Colbert.

How long can Denis Pagan continue to carry this $500,000 liability?

So are you saying that Archer & Stevens are on $350K each ?? I doubt that any of the figures you are quoting here are close to the mark !!

The premise remains the same, Leigh is getting paid significantly more then both Archer and Stevens despite not being 1/3 the player.

He was hardly booed last night.

Only because we never saw him on the ground. He spent the night riding and getting splinters up his bum.

He is an injury prone, overpaid, overrated hack who has done ***** all since he's been at the Kangaroos. I'm glad he's gone but I will not forget what he did to the club, especially when we needed some loyalty at the end of 99.

Come on....most of your post was having a go at him before a little disclaimer at the end saying that he's still one of your favourite players. It's just a variation of the old "I'm not racist but...." line.

For a bunch of people who claim to be "over the Colbert thing", it's kind of funny how you've just made a thread about him and all the Cat fans come running to join in.

Colbert is a Roo, and whether you think I'm being over sensitive or not, I'll defend him.

And finally, you Cat fans have plenty to chat about from last night...your team stuck at it when it looked like you could get overrun. There was Ablett Jr, the efforts of Ling on Grant....Scarlett had another good game (hell, your entire backline was excellent).....why don't you start a thread celebrating that rather than analysing the efforts of a former Geelong player?

Obviously you know me better then i know myself

I have been called every name under the sun because i defend Leigh on the GFC Board, so to say that i'm not over him leaving is so totally laughable.

Leigh is the nicest, and most genuine person i've ever met through football, it doesn't change the fact that he is now a hack, a complete shadow of the number 2 that played 105 brilliant games for my Cats.

You're still yet to tell me what was incorrect or overly harsh about my initial post.

Hell even your own supporters have bagged Leigh mercilessly, yet when i do it, it must be because i'm bitter.

Change the record Shinners.

Firstly, I never said that you were being harsh on Colbert.

Secondly, I have my doubts on your comparisons on how much Colbert is getting paid compared to Stevo and Archer.

The Roos fans are family, you're not. Colbert is family, you're not. And that is where the difference lies.

Change the record Shinners.

What, you don't like my Belle and Sebastian record?

As I posted earlier, why harp on about Colbert when you Geelong fans should be posting about your own club's wonderful effort on Saturday night? Go and celebrate Ablett Jr's first goal for you guys or something like that.......believe me, if he's half as good as his dad, he'll be a 200 gamer for you guys and it'll much more interesting writing about the start of a career rather than about the trials and tribulations of one of your ex-players.

I don't "harp" on it, this is my first post about Leigh on these boards.

The reason i posted it was because i thought it was a genuine issue, nothing more nothing less.

IMHO Leigh is undeserving of a place in the North side, now if he is being carried, it is an issue that deserves to be raised and debated.

Its just a shame that such discussions always get hijacked by talk of Leigh leaving Geelong, the reason for that is two fold, the majority of GFC fans haven't gotten over it (they should let it go, hell they should have done so 12 months ago), and the hyper-sensitivity of North fans.

So Shinners, may i ask you, is Leigh deserving of a place in your side? and;

Where is Leigh's career placed at the moment? Does he have a future in the AFL?

BTW GAJ is going to be a star :)

pile it on Geelong fans he deserves nothing less.

Windy you are soooooo right.

When you got your mercenaries you off loaded them to Brisbane.

Kangrooters actually embrace mercenaries.

The two deserve each other.

No wonder the Kangarooter social club is $2.2million in debt to the football club.

Are u serious?

Pfft...

He was booed- ALOT

Go Roos

If you count 2 times as a lot.

1. For gutlessly trying to take out our young rookie Jarad Rooke who had the courage to keep his eye on the ball, something Colbert never did.

2. For when he took a mark on the Docklands side forward line.

They were the only 2 chances we had to boo him.

You were obviously pleased with his 1 possession for the game?

So, defending one of our players is hyper-sensitivity? Hey, we don't start the topics, you guys do. And since you're posting it on the General Board....and in the past, on the North Melbourne board...it's obvious you're after a response. Don't claim hyper-sensitivity if you get a response from us.

So Shinners, may i ask you, is Leigh deserving of a place in your side? and;

My view is that he should be brought back in through the Magoos. With Blakey and Martyn also recent returns from injury, you can't carry 3 half-fit players into any game. However, if we had 21 fit or nearly 100% fit players in the team, then I'm happy for Colbert to come straight back into the seniors as you could manage him through a game with a 4 man interchange. As one of the Roos fans said last night, if he's going to get injured, better for him to do it in the seniors than with the MKs.

Where is Leigh's career placed at the moment? Does he have a future in the AFL?

I reckon he has to perform this season or we just have to cut our losses and delist him. It's a shame...I saw how good he was at Geelong, I've seen him do the one percenters with the Roos. But with his physical frailities, I'd much rather give another kid a chance.

BTW GAJ is going to be a star :)

If Ablett Snr. was God, does that make Ablett Jr. "Jesus"?

I asked a Geelong fan next to me who that kid in the #29 jumper was, and she said "Ablett Jr.". He did well, hope he goes on with it.

It is a shame, he had the potential to be a superstar of the Michael Voss ilk.

Leigh is the king of the one percenters, that was evidenced by his bump on Jarad Rooke. THE most courageous player i've ever seen.

I hope he manages to get over his injuries and once again perform well, but i can't see it happening, unfortunately all i see is Leigh's once potentially great career dying a slow and painful death.

It is when you defend the undefendable.

.......like Saints fans defending Winmars/Lockett's self indulgent behaviour, Geelong fans defending some of Ablett Snr's more thuggish on field acts, Roo fans defending Mick for the Simon Black incident, Collingwood fans defending Eddie's conflicts of interest, Brisbane/Swans fans defending their priority local draft picks.....lot's of indefensible things to choose from in the wonderful world of the AFL.......

I remember the first time I noticed Colbert. It was a game against Adelaide, and he grabbed the ball with one hand, spun and twisted his way around a few Crows players before sending a pinpoint pass to a Geelong forward. I said to my (Geelong supporting) mate, "Gee...he's pretty good. I wish we had him".

I sort of live on the memories of a game he played for us against the Swans in his first season for us. Back from injury and just throwing himself into packs...I think two Swans players went off the ground with injuries they got from Colbert bumps.

He's not the first player to have his career ruined by injuries and he won't be the last. But I'll feel for him more than most other players because I've met him and he's a genuinely nice and down to earth bloke. Plenty of footballers are full of themselves, but he's never struck me as someone who has felt that he's more important than the fans.

Oh, i'm sorry, i didn't realise that being a fan means that you must show blind faith, to the point of stupidity. Silly me.

BTW How did i behave? I criticised Leigh's performance, OMG, isn't that disgraceful.
