Who the ******** does this tool think he is? I don't condone racist comments but surely he could see where Rex was coming from?

Seriously this hacks career would have been terminated the same year Robbie Ahmat was dropped from the swans if he wasnt playing for such a dud club.

In a contextual sense Rex was not being racist. It is clear to me that he was saying that Davis has the ability to light up the football stage, as though he is on fire. And when things are not lit up, what are they? Dark or black.

The fact that Davis took it as a racial slur obviously warrants an apology from Hunt but Davis should be able to understand the context in which the comment was made, and accept Hunt's comment for what it was.

I hope that once he hears the comment, that Davis will accept the apology and that Hunt will be a little more careful with his comments, but not change his style too much.

It was an honest slip of the tongue. Rex is not racist. He uses 'black as a dogs guts' all the time through his calls.

If Leon or Collingwood take it any further, they are a joke. Not accepting Rex's apology is also a joke. Focus on your football you hack.

What a load of crap!!!! I think some of these aborigines are becoming a bit too precious lately with all this vilification crap. It was an honest slip up and anyone who's tried to commentate a game knows fully well how difficult it can be. Rex uses the phrase "black as a dogs guts" very often and it came out in a way he didnt mean it to.

Get over it Davis. Stop deflecting from the real issue and that is, how bad a player you really are.

Mountain out of a bloody molehill.

You can see where Rex is coming from. If something isn't light, like neon, then it's obvisouly dark isn't it. To take this personally is a bunch of crap.

Maybe if "Neon Leon" put as much time into his football as he is worrying about this then he would have been "on fire" or "lit up" and the call would never have been made!

For what it's worth, I don't listen to Rex Hunt anyway, he is frustrating with his calls and nicknames. I usually flick across to Triple M. You have to put up with some twats but at least it's a straight forward call of the game.

We all know the guy is not a racist. He is a fiery commentator who tries to be as funny as, by coming up with the most unbelievable paradox’s (absurd, ironic, statements!).

In the heat of the action there will always be a comment that will be felt to be over the top, but it is only in jest.

He apologised and Neon Leon should "lighten up"!

Is this the same Rex Hunt who refuses to reconcile with his former manager/best mate?

Rex needs to understand that not everyone likes his commentay.
Nicknames were a novelty back when Mil Hanna (the Cranium) played but now it seems so boring with every player seeming to have some sort of different identifying reference.

Listening to Rex and how rude he is to the talkback callers makes me think that this wasn't a slip of the tongue. Just someone who's ego has taken over.

i think the whole world's become a little bit too PC

you see it all over the work place. if a black guy gets the job it's equal opportunity. if a white guy gets it it's racism. same with religion. or anything

i mean, cant we give some credit for ppl. and not automattically think along racist lines just because ppl look different. btw, i'm asian

It's people like Murray who are making it unbearable. You saw how quick he was off the mark calling me a racist for just deciding to call an aboe "aboe"
