Leppa's third year.

If leppa does get the sack I hope the club gets a coach with actual senior coaching experience
Every coach comes to a point in time where they either deliver or move on. Leppa is nowhere near that point yet.
Voss was given 5 years and went no where, it was time for him to go.
Leigh Matthews has even said that you have 4 years to turn a clubs fortunes around or move on.

Leppa and his recruiting team have got to get this years draft right, they need to recruit some young guns and also secure a mature KPF. This is critical to the club and Leppas coaching future.

If things are still this disfunctional this time next year, then Leppa's performance will be fair game.
When's the last time a coach that coached his way to a wooden spoon win a premiership a few years later? Voss wasn't the greatest but he had a plan and took risks and even though it didn't pan out I can respect that he tried something. This, sitting on our ass twiddling our thumbs and hoping a tall forward comes to us doesn't inspire confidence.

What was Voss's plan? What risks are you referring to? I remember plenty of people complaining about Voss's game plans and his lack of adjustments, and there's almost definitely some overlap with those now complaining about Leppa's game plan and his adjustments yesterday. Since Leppa's took over we've recruited Beams, Christensen, and Mitch Robinson. All sitting on our arse? I would hardly characterise "hoping a tall forward comes to us" as the club's position, given they've approached every one on the market and a fair few that haven't ended up available.

I for one am not suggesting we sack Leppa.

But voss came in and coached us to a finals appearance, then there was the whole fev thing. I for one ended up firmly in the 'voss needs to go camp'.

I think those first two years kinder cancelled each other out in a way and bought him some more time.

Generally being as bad as we have been, and having as little success across any of the key indicators with no real signs we are going to make the leap next year, the sharks would start circling early next year.. If we don't win a few games early.

Performances like yesterday do nothing but remind us how far we are off, there was no attack through the middle either, our game styling has gone from we are 'crap but bloody exciting when we're on' to 'crap and with a horrible game style' - the one thing during Voss's time, and even in leppas first year was friends would say "yeah you're struggling but you gotta love the way your young guys play, it's bloody exciting'... Now it's just "this is the worst game of footy I have even seen'... Lol

Maybe we can bring Voss back as a senior assistant. That would make everyone happy, wouldn't it?

No third year for mine.

I sat in the stand behind the cheersquad having to just sit and watch such a pathetic display by the team. It was atrocious and if anyone even tries to claim there is a positive out of it they are lying. Melbourne were ordinary too. We couldn't hit targets by foot when under no pressure, we were passing of handpasses that were either too high or around players ankles, that's if they could even be touched by the intended recipient. I've seen comments about our lack of forward options, well it is not an excuse for yesterday because we weren't kicking it near them anyway. I'd regularly see us go to a two on one rather than a one on one contest.

Our skills were something that are just not anywhere near where they should be and on a day which was perfect for football. The problem with that is that this has not been a one off this season, on multiple occasions we have been let down by consistent poor disposal. Skills come directly back to the coach and the coaching staff, if they can't get player skill levels up to a certain level then we just can't compete with anyone. As a club we have gone backwards over the last 2 years, in a time when everyone talked about us going forward. The only players who consistently show good disposal skills are those who came from outside of the club.

We've got a good modern coach who from the outside seems to be across all areas of the footy department, has a fairly cohesive group, is on good terms with the board and communicates well with media and fans. You shouldn't give that up too quickly these days as it is very hard to build. Anyway, is going to be replaced with? The next untried messiah assistant coach or Neil Craig?

Slax has spoken.
Extend his contract now!
Given the way our board has acted in the past then it is likely they will.

Anyway spoon is no guarantee with Gold Coast now without Ablett for Q clash hoping for some injuries against Geelong.

What is the pass mark for Leppa next year?
IMO- 10 wins if we land Dixon

8 wins without Dixon as a bare minimum- with a % of over %80

Any less than the above then Leppa will have to walk.

Agree anything less than 8 wins and its goodbye

I find a pass mark for Leppa really hard to quantify. Folks are saying 8 wins is a pass mark, but if we win 8 games by less than a kick, and lose every other game by 10+ goals, I really wouldn't consider that a pass, while if we picked up 6 wins, and our average losing margin against top sides was 3 goals, I'd be ecstatic.

Things can change quickly in this game. If we can recruit an accomplished forward it will change the dynamic of the team. No more going sideways, we can go straight and direct. I really think most of the pieces of the puzzle are in place, with the exception of a KPF, if we can get Dixon we could have a serious crack at finals next year.

Who would we want if we cut Leppa?

There really isn't anyone available who is better than Leppa imo. Certainly no ex coaches that I can think of anyway..

We should at least give him a chance to show us how good he is when he has his full squad available.....only then can we truly judge him.

I'm hesitant about the coaching atm but it seems the only fair way to treat the coach who is one of our own.

I don't want a repeat of the Voss sacking, where the majority of the problems weren't his fault.

Hey guys,
I'm not a Brisbane fan but I've watched a lot of Brisbane games this year and I'm seriously wondering why you guys aren't calling for a new coach now.
Now I don't want to piss anyone off here, as I know Lepp is an ex player but I'm surprised you guys aren't calling for change.

Firstly, you guys have some great players in the 2's doing well week in week out. Zac O'Brien, without a doubt ready for AFL, which he's showed isn't getting a game. 36 Disposals last week, 33 and 2 goals yesterday. He, and other young players have been having really good games recently and I'm actually shocked he, and others aren't getting a run. O'Brien is actually killing it, as I'm sure most of you know.

You guys are last on the ladder. Lepp talks about squad development every week and blames injuries or lack of key position players for your problems. But barely rotates these young guns into the side. And I do believe you guys have guns in 2's. I don't think Lepp has got too much between the ears to be honest. Listening to his press conferences and reading his quotes it's all the same.

Most worryingly, I see no passion in him. When he's coaching or when he's doing interviews. I also see no substantial mid game tactical changes, or to put it bluntly plan B's. And when you listen to his post game interviews, you see this.

So what's going on? Either no one in management or coaching gives a shit up there, or he's been told to tank. I feel like it's a big joke at Brisbane.
Imagine if any Melbourne based side was in the position you guys are. Demons maybe, but look at the young blood getting rotated every week. They have improved. But you guys haven't and I thought with the recruiting done you would be a top 8 contender for sure.

I'd call for him out, and out now. For someone who has the passion to coach. Or, there's something else going on here...
Trade deals in the works for first rd draft picks etc. But that, in it's own way, bringing the game into disrepute.

I've always been a fan of Brisbane, otherwise I wouldn't care. So I'm interested to know what you guys think is really going on?

In short, because our club has been so unstable and so ****ed around, first by the board changing the goalposts for coaches repeatedly, secondly in getting rid of the coach, then getting rid of the board, then getting rid of the CEO, and while all that way happening we've also been turning over almost a fifth to a quarter of the playing list each year - huge in a time when many clubs only do two changes. Many of us feel that Leppa can't really be judged in a second year that amounts to nothing because of the number of injuries. Would you want to be fired from your job because your mate has been sick, so your area hasn't been delivering?

I'm also guessing you're not aware of the NEAFL. Going off stats in the NEAFL is a terrible idea, because the comp is very very average. We've had many years of brilliant NEAFL (or QAFL) players that couldn't cut it at seniors. It's not like the WAFL or VFL. You'd be much better off going by any players' efforts in the seniors, even if they haven't played many games, and ZOB has shown that he's an ok but basically average midfielder in the area we play deep in. Sure, he's probably going to have more impact than Staker, but unless he shoots up half a foot or more they're not competing for the same position. I don't think we really have anyone in the reserves knocking the door down and demanding selection.

Again, no guns in the seconds.

Plan Bs are overrated when the club is still trying to learn Plan A. Refer back to injuries and their impact on this year. What's the point in chopping and changing when we don't even know if Plan A is worth persisting with?

So what's going on? Either no one in management or coaching gives a shit up there, or he's been told to tank. I feel like it's a big joke at Brisbane.

I feel like you're turning us not playing ZOB into some huge conspiracy. o_O Maybe go back and have a look at our club's history over the last five years, or hell, over this year.

Imagine if any Melbourne based side was in the position you guys are. Demons maybe, but look at the young blood getting rotated every week. They have improved. But you guys haven't and I thought with the recruiting done you would be a top 8 contender for sure.

If any Melbourne based side was in the situation we're in, they'd be getting huge amounts of cash (hi, $1m for Roos!) and priority picks (hi, Richmond, St Kilda, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Melbourne, Carlton!) from the AFL. Gee if only we were the recipient of such largesse.

With the recruiting we'd done last year, I'd hoped for around tenth. But here's some relevant figures:
- Hanley, five games.
- Our most promising forwards, 1 game between both of them.
- Merrett, four games.
- Rockliff, 10 games.
- Green, Redden, Martin and now D. Beams have all missed time as well.

We had 20 players on our injury list at one point. Hmmm how is any team going to go with that? How is GC going?

I'd call for him out, and out now. For someone who has the passion to coach. Or, there's something else going on here...

Feel free to call him out. But see above why you're way off base.

I think most of your supporters need to shut up. Changing the coach (and a highly-rated one prior to assuming the job) will achieve nothing.

This is similar to the first few years of any rebuild and face it, your club is at year 2/3 if a full-scale rebuild after the ****-ups from Voss. This is nothing against Voss either, he tried and it did not work, so be it.

The first few years of a rebuild display limited of a coaches' ability on gameday. The kids are all...kids sprinkled with some quality oldies and a few shithouse players that looked better in a better side.

So shut up and just enjoy the ride. What your mob dished up on the weekend was rubbish however what does a rebuilding side do most weeks? Serve up rubbish.

I don't think it's anywhere near most of our supporters wanting Leppa sacked. Even those that do are generally fairly ambivalent on the matter, thinking that there might be better options rather than an antipathy towards Leppa or feeling that he's running the team into the ground.
