Glad the Beatles are re-releasing this as they intended without the Spector influence.

i totally agree. am really looking forward to listening to let it be totally de-spectorised.
would much rather listen to it as the beatles intended for better or worse although my gut instict tells me it will be much better.

it will be a #1 in the US and UK. But it won't get it's chance in the domestic charts which are as credible as the Iraqi information minister:mad:

Dude, if the Australian Idol CD can't knock off Delta...no-one can!! :p

Am definately looking forward to this, saw it on the news this arvo and the little bit they played certainly wet my appetite.

I've had a listen.

It's a bit raw (as you'd expect) and is essentially exactly what I expected.

The original album (some song changes) without the heavy production, choirs, orchesta etc

It's different, but after years of listening to the original, its like listening to bootlegs of the sessions (which it pretty much is I guess..)

I don't think it's bad or anything, it's an interesting listen - but I wonder whether it was really needed.

The Phil Spector production is part of Beatles history, some like it, some don't, I'm not a huge fan, but it is what it is..

Paul McCartney thinks it was a mistake, so 33 years later he removes the Spector production and sends out an album which is pretty much pushed as an improvement.

Perhaps he should have just "Let it Be". ;)

Realistically, I think it'll be more interesting from a historical/scholarly point of view, rather than for musical enjoyment.

Another brilliant plan for Paul Mcartney to make ****loads more money.
The hype will have all the sheep buying it for sure.

:D

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr had nothing to do with the production and mixing of the album done at Abbey Road Studios. Paul does not deserve more flack from a country that has shat all over him quite unfairly.

It is no secret that Paul has commented that he hated the Spector treatment, yet he is more content with sticking to the Beatles original idea now they have more control.

Paul McCartney is one of four beatles and although he will get his slice of profit, it is to give fans a chance to own a legal and approved copy of how the album sounded as they recorded it from January 1969, how it was originally intended, (a stripped back 4 piece rock and roll band) approval was given by all four's parties.

Why don't people complain about the Stones living of their legacy?

This is the Beatles and not Paul and Ringo is just as satisfied with the result, you all do tend to forget Ringo

This album will have the songs:

LET IT BE (#1 single)
I GOT A FEELING
DONT LET ME DOWN
GET BACK (#1 single)
FOR YOU BLUE
LONG AND WINDING ROAD (#1 single)
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE
TWO OF US

What other band can claim to have MORE THAN HALF A DOZEN of their best ever songs on an album most consider (mainly the production and way it was thrown together and released during the splitting up process after their last recorded and best album Abbey Road) as their poorest.:D

Exactly. :D

Having said that though, when the Beach Boys' SMiLE sessions box set is released, all the fans will do the same thing so I really shouldn't be too harsh. ;)

I'll buy this Beatles offering also, mostly because I love the Spectorised version, AND the movie, so yeah it'll be good to add to the collection. :)
