Levi Casboult

Was just scrolling through the afl.com.au draft machine and this name popped up, he is described as such:

Tall forward with fantastic overhead ability. Contested marking is a clear strength as is his ability to consistently win on-on-one contests. Over age player for Stingrays in 2009 whose clean finishing skills were obvious, booting 41.14 for the season. His 3.04 sec for the 20m was very good for tall player at Vic screening.

Anyone else know anything about him?

I think that's just a result of Carlton supported clicking the Tall Forward box. I had a look at him anyway, seems like he has plenty of upside - only problem is he doesn't really lead. I'm sure if we drafted him he'd be taught how to do it though. It'd be good to pick him up at #43 or something.

Something like this would make me salivate:
#12 - Jake Melksham/Aaron Black
#43 - Levi Casboult/Jesse Crichton/Roland Ah Chee
#59 - Mitchell Carter/Zacchary Ledin/Anton Woods

Levi is a late to rookie pick for mine.....doesn't set the world on fire, but is athletic enough and has some scope to be developed as a second string ruckman...have seen some moments in games when he has played out of the square and doesn't look out of place up forward either....kicking seemd pretty hit or miss early in the year, but think it has imrproved as the year has gone on.....he'll end up on a list somewhere, I suppose whether it is us or not depends on how the cards fall.

I haven't seen much of him but he comes of as being a bit too vanilla for my liking. A bit like a passive Jack Hawkins only not even as good as that may sound to some.

Casboult has spent a lot of his time at the Stingrays as a ruckman: they had a serious shortage and his athleticism allowed him to make up for a lack of cm.
Considering that the Stingers have made a number of finals since Casboult has been the ruckman, he can claim some success.
Not so sure about his footy smarts, but he does have a decent pair of hands and a good leap.
I was a bit surprised he didn't go last year, but if we managed to pick him up as a rookie I wouldn't be complaining. He can ruck (although he is Cloke - like in that respect) or play key forward. He is quicker than Cloke and he is a hard worker, but Cloke's kicking (when it is on) would be superior. (Cloke can kick it 70 m when it works, but as we've all seen, sometimes it really doesn't work.)

I like the idea of "try before you buy": inviting elligable and potential pickups down for a some training to see if they fit in and have what it takes is something that I like. Not all of these work out, but it is a cheap way of checking guys out. I would hope we would invite Casboult down if we were really interested. However, I don't think we would unless there was some movement in the Cloke situation.

not to mention this blokes a Carlton supporter, Id be glad to take him with pick 43:)

Played against Levi in the U/18s in '07.
He was playing in the ruck for Beaconsfield while he was in a Stingray squad, he went OK, he won every tap as he just jumped all over our ruckman. Direction of his tap was pretty awful but he was a great athlete and had no trouble covering ground and he went forward at times and kicked a couple too.
I'm sure a few years in the Stingrays and their development squads has definitely improved his game since then and i've seen him play a couple of times there and he would be definately worth a late pick.

Cool name but I dont think we need another ruckman we got Kruze, Hammer, Sammy, Robbie Warnock and Clokey already.
