Isn't Colyer very very small?

Are we going to be building a midfield full of short people? :p

Well if we get Morabito or Lucas you have a tall midfielder their. Colyer is a midget but he's very quick and has excellent skills. Need goal kicking midfielders, mobility is very important and we lack the ability to win the ball in our forward line and break the game up as we attack.

Size is very overrated especially when it comes to midfielders. Look at Bell, Boomer Harvey, Alwyn Davey - their all tiny but they have huge talent.

He impressed me in the U/18 Championships final, I was just wondering if that because of his size, he'll slip to a third or fourth round?

If he was 180cm he would go first round, be laughing if you got an AA midfielder with your third round pick.

Colyer is small.

Lewigie, Lewis Jetta is a skinny boy but isn't small he's 181.5cm's , thats the same size as Scully.

Like EH said add a Morabito or a Scully and a N. Winmar there all very tall.

Swift and Ebert are tall, though Masten is small that would be a good balance I think all those guys together.

That truly made my day when I heard that I suspected as much, but hearing him confirm it like that was terrific.

If we can get him and Travis Colyer in the draft I will be very very happy.
It'll make zero difference as to whether we get him or not where he wants to go.

True but still its very nice to hear that he wants to play with us.

And the fact he played for us pre-season means we saw something in him.:)

He can take over Wirra's spot as my favourite player.

Getting the ball to him in space will cause destruction!!!11!!1!

Wish we had someone who had Wirra's footy skills, but without the injuries :(

I guess your aiming for him as player sponsor if we get him to our club in november

In all seriousness, I think we could quite easily get him in the 3rd round.

He's top-aged, very skinny and I thought he was a lot quicker than what he showed in that video.

I still want him at the club though for his skills and x-factor.

Haven't seen anything but that highlights reel of him so far. Seems very thin. I imagined him a lot smaller for his weight.

I have faith that if the Eagles recruiting think him worthy, then I will be happy with it. Really haven't gone wrong in the last few years.

I’ll be interested to watch how Lewie develops.

I should preface this with stating that I do think he’s a very good player and is valuable to the Swans but at the moment we haven’t really seen a great deal of his game so I still think he is somewhat of an unknown quantity.

At Swans he plays off the wing and his role is to essentially hang back and to the side of the contested pack and get on the end of a handpass, burn off an opponent, take a few bounces then deliver to teammate – rinse and repeat.

The queries I have are;
- Will he will find the same space at AFL level?
- Can he can handle a hard tag?
- Will his style based on speed in the WAFL against 2nd rate players will have the same impact in the AFL?
- Can he can put sufficient muscle on his slight frame?
- Does he have extra strings to his bow to change style should he need to
- Will his kicking (which is not pretty but generally accurate) be as damaging

I like the kid and a lot of these queries are more based on him not being given the opportunity to show these skills as it’s not his role.

From what ive seen.

The queries I have are;
- Will he will find the same space at AFL level? Very good in contested situations, can hit a guy in a crowd by foot ala the Davey Brothers.

- Can he can handle a hard tag? Will he ever need to worry about that, i dont see a time when he would be our only forward running option, wont ever be our best player. So i doubt teams will be able to afford to tag him.
- Will his style based on speed in the WAFL against 2nd rate players will have the same impact in the AFL? Super quick, with natural ability (lateral movement and agility) in Traffic allot like S.Hill only cleaner.

- Can he can put sufficient muscle on his slight frame? Does not need to be dressed up as somthing hes not, still young and will put enough muscle on at AFL level.

- Does he have extra strings to his bow to change style should he need to? Not sure, obviously he can play two ways from what ive seen he can get around the stoppages or stay forward and get to the ball drop of a contest.

- Will his kicking (which is not pretty but generally accurate) be as damaging? His kicking has been very damaging from ive seen, like ive said ive seen him kick some incredible passes to Nottey on the lead from a shoe box of space.

Will need to ensure he gets those 10-20 touches a game in the right areas to really punnish sides.

Don't get me wrong EasternHills - I love the kid and I'm not doubting that he is capable of these things.

I'm merely highlighting the role he plays at the Swans and the roles in which he hasn't really been exposed to.

He has shown he capable in all those areas in spurts but even Chad Fletcher has won contested possessions and laid tackles before ;) It's more about consistency.

does he play like and could he have the impact of an andrew lovett from essendon. I haven't seen the kid play and this is the sort of player he sounds like. Also lovett got picked up by essendon when he was in his early 20's and is and was skinny, fast as lightning and is good by foot.
