Most people assume that he's shit playing for reserves and what not, but has anyone actually seen him play? If he was so bad why did we take him at pick 2 in the rookie draft? Anyone actually know anything about this kid? (even though he's delisted)

Bedford was named as an emergency a few times for Geelong who were arguably the best team of 2008.

Bedford was high up, might even have been second in Geelong's 2nds awards off memory.

The consensus was Bedford would be suited back home on the wide expanses of Subiaco, where he would be able to use his pace.

Theory OK, in practice it failed, can't win them all guys.

Sorry but I don't really subscribe to this. The Jetta story really didn't begin until after the draft last year; if we had picked him up who knows whether he would have developed the drive that he did by missing out and seeing someone close to him make it.

We can't pick him up as a rookie this year, but maybe all this excess anxiety could be better channeled into efforts to find some other miracle rookie pick?

Obviously, Swan Districts knew he had a bit to offer because they moved heaven and Earth to get him up to Perth to play for them.

Anyway, your second point is a good one IMO, there's bound to be plenty of talent out there, that hasn't been fostered through the usual channels. We have 4 (I think) rookie spots to fill, I hope we take a highly speculative type with a least one of them.

Never close to playing for our AFL team, would have been snapped in two.

I always thought he was picked up by the Eagles because he was returning home to WA, and they thought they might aswell take a punt on him, as he used to be very highly rated.

Seemed to have talent, copped a few injuries, don't know what went wrong.
