Were they showing less for their AFL relevant role? Not saying I think he would have made it, just it seemed we have kept others who were showing less.

He was drafted in one of the Covid compromised drafts.I thought it was a bit rough at the time.
However, given he’s been bypassed by all clubs for 2years since, I’m ok with it.
If it works out at Essendon, good luck to him.
So was something Off-Field?Which suggests to me there were some major issues with the guy that the club dumped him after his 1st contract.
I've seen him play a bit the last couple of years and his problem is that he doesn't have a second effort. He's a mark and kick forward who when he finds space, he's a good mark and a good shot at goal. Won't get that luxury in the afl. He'll have days where he kicks a couple but defender's will love playing against himSo was something Off-Field?

I wish him luck. Hopefully he can make a go at it.

'I thought I was good enough': Third time lucky for newest Bomber
After being delisted by Collingwood and overlooked by Carlton during the SSP, Liam McMahon gets his chance at Essendonwww.afl.com.au
Injury dependant I guess. They had to quickly do their work on players. It says in that article that (like May) Essendon only met with him last minute. Sounds like Essendon really ramped up their MSD preparation in the last 24 hrs.

He did not kick a Goal with us in his 2 Seasons?First goal as an AFL listed player apparently![]()
He did not kick a Goal with us in his 2 Seasons?
I was having a dig at the commentators. He kicked goals in the VFL with us while AFL listed.
Yes, he kicked 8 goals for our reserves: https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/reserves-players-the-complete-list?lastName=MHe did not kick a Goal with us in his 2 Seasons?
I largely agree with this with one clarification. IMO McMahon is a tweener, not quite a key position player and not quite a flanker. You are spot on, he does not have the physicality required to play KP at AFL level, and a big strong AFL KPD will rag doll him in the contest. Yes he does move quite well for a 198 cm KP player, but I wouldnt overstate this. I wouldnt say his athleticism is anything extraordinary, not in the Darcy Moore category, but he is no slug. Problem for McMahon is he cant play KP, on some big strong but slowish KPD, in the AFL he has to play on a flank, and on a flank his athleticism is nothing special at all. If he had to play on Jeremy Howe for example, I doubt he would get separation...McMahon moves really well and has nice skills - but the core of the role for our KPFs is physical contest - and that just isn't and never will be McMahon's go.
It probably depends a bit on team and what they want from their forwards. We want a strong contest ahead of the ball with runners hitting ground balls. Dons probably view him as having the potential to be like Langford in their team.I largely agree with this with one clarification. So too skinny for KP, too slow for a flank IMO
I think I witnessed the worst game of AFL footy last week. Surely this guy had to get a game this week.Good luck to him but it’s almost an insult that they didn’t select him until they were desperate
