He definitely wants more of a crack at AFL level.

Fremantle Dockers ruckman Liam Reidy reflects on ‘frustrating’ season spent mostly at WAFL level

Fremantle ruckman Liam Reidy has admitted spending the vast majority of his time with the Dockers on the fringe of the senior side has been “frustrating”.
Reidy played his first two AFL games at the end of last season and started 2025 in the Dockers’ line-up in the absence of Sean Darcy, but he has not been sighted at the top level since a 78-point humbling at the hands of Geelong in their season opener.
The 25-year-old was a consistent stand-out through a difficult season for Peel Thunder, which he finished with a 33 hit-out, 22-disposal, one-goal effort in their 54-point win over Swan Districts in Mandurah on Saturday.
Reidy told The West Australian he had done his best to keep his focus on what he could control and he had no doubts he was a far better player now than when he arrived at the club in the 2022 rookie draft.
“It’s frustrating, but I just look at how can I improve every day, in every game, how can I get better,” Reidy said.
“I just try and compare myself to myself and put my best foot forward every day.
“I do get a bit of (opposition) attention, but I’m used to it. I welcome it now, it gets me into the game.”

Is he better than Pittonet? If yes, sign him up.
No, he's not. He has like zero AFL traits and I dont understand why any club wants him. We will upgrade him picking some ruck for free that gets delisted this year.

Probably thinking about how well the last backup ruck snagged from freo went. Easy to convince yourself that he's only in the 2's because freo have Darcy and Jackson I imagine

Nah, I knew Meek was an AFL ruck, literally when Hawks got him I said "he's arguably the perfect AFL ruck as he's good enough but not going to cost the world to keep"

I watch a lot of Peel, I do not see it with Reidy, even as a stop gap. More than happy for the big lug (who seems like a great dude) to prove me wrong

I don't watch enough Peel to discuss it so I'll take your word for it. I did want Meek at the time though, still mad about that.

Neither

Do you guys have a 4th ruck on your list?

Or need to recruit a ruck to replace reidy?
We have a younger kid Aiden Riddle who was injured for the 2nd half of the year. He's probably not a full ruck at AFL though. I'd be surprised if we didnt list someone to replace him

Aiden Riddle is about 20 years old and not physically developed enough for AFL, the fourth ruck on Freos list.

He might be even further down the list. Freo has rucked Darcy, Jackson, Treacy, Voss ahead of Reidy and Riddle.

The issue with Reidy is his lack of follow up. He competes hard at the ruck contest, wins a lot of them, then goes missing when the ball moves to the next contest at his feet.

He is of the age now where his fitness should be getting to the point where he can apply those second and third efforts - so a club taking him on will be hopeful of that blossoming for them.

Personally, I have him in the Ent class ruck group.

The other issue is you can't rest him forward. So, he's either in the ruck or on the pine.

I will pay another team to take him off of our list, if we can get any compensation for him, then it's daylight robbery.

Take him. Had his chances and folded in the big league.

Great bloke however

Comfortably the best ruck at WAFL, not sure how the rest of the country looks for rucks at the moment but I can definitely see him leaving to get a look in somewhere else. I'm not sure he'll ever be a number 1 AFL ruck to be honest but the guy has confidence and seems to really want it so maybe a club thinks he can be that guy.

Would wish him the best if he left, Knobel must be getting bored having to play Peel reserves anyway

How things apparently change in 2 years?
