Unless Eagles have a plan for the pick why not just leave to end of trade period to try and get more?

Kudos for having so much hilarity in one short sentence.

WC have a storied recent history of letting the work experience kid do trade week. I can't even imagine what we would do if the AFL trade landscape involved actual bidding wars.

How many games will he actually play next year?Id guess 8-10 injured.
He does not seem to be a professional trainer and/or follow the dieticians instructions. Doubt hes put on any muscle since joining afl. This makes him seem like he's always trying to get his fitness up to scratch. He's also very prone to absolute coach killers e.g. mis kick from uncontested ball deep in defence which goes straight to opposition and sails back over his head. And he plays for high free kicks constantly

If nothing changes ladder wise it's
more like a pick 30 as it would be this year
With a f3rd 2027 coming back.
Not a large cost
You'd expect St Kilda to improve next season with their trade and free agent blitz, so likely a lower pick than 30 if that draft is as compromised as 2025's.

I think the value for West Coast is going to come from the harsher NGA rules next year. A spare second rounder will be handy.

Hard to project where the 2027 third ends up. Tassie will have 7 first round picks, plus the first picks in the second and third round. Which means the earliest the Eagles third could be is pick 45.

That's before taking free agency compo and academy/FS picks into account (which have pushed the first pick in this year's third round back to 44 already). So I guess it could be in the 50s, but then on draft day the picks used to match bids actually end-up pulling later picks up the order.

We will see
Our second this year is pick 30
That pick probably ends up pick 35

Correct, like I said. You’d expect St Kilda to improve.

Pick 35 + our second rounder would be worth somewhere around 950-1,100 points, which is enough to match a bid in the 12-16 range. Two-pick combos like that are going to be extremely useful under the new rules.

We’d be hoping either to hold someone to ransom or (more ideally) have our own NGA kid drafted in that range.

Geez for a bloke that was worth a FRDP they’ve jumped off him pretty quick.

Can only imagine the reception he will get next year in front of all the jilted fans….

Are you conceding we may not play West Coast on our home deck already?

Maybe we can play 3 out of the first 5 weeks in Perth rather than Adelaide next year.

This was a good trade for fair value. Everybody wins, Liam Ryan included. Why is everyone still arguing and swinging their dicks around?

10 days of trade period, and being forced to endure the absolute deluged of crap that spews forth from the likes of Barrat and Josh freaking Jenkins has cooked everybody's mind. Everyone now think that there has to be winners and losers of trade week.

What actually happens is clubs work to find trades that generally suit all parties involved, because that is how deals happen, and players don't tend to want to screw over their old teams and generate bad press.

I wish I could just tune trade week and all the freaking tit for tat out, but I'm a bonafide Saints nuffy and I need the my fix.

Who would of thought? Lol
Now he's a spud
Our future second will be around pick 35ish but with a future 4th coming back

If we think the Saints are to be bottom 4 areas next year(very unlikely) then I think we might go for it.
Not if the Saints are looking to make finals, which they will be with all these supposed player acquisitions.
That F2 would be pushed to the 30s at best in that case(accounting for the top part of the draft being protected), which is just too far unders.

F2 + something sure
I did say it months ago that would be a F2 but bloody hell i never expected the eagles to throw in a 3rd rounder
Saints finish around the 8 and eagles bottom 3 again

thats just about a nothing pick of upgrading around 10 spots
