All the talk is Johson poor pass and tiv getting caught.

But what about Lids miss - he should have nailed that goal, he needs to step up and kick those gettable ones. Great grab but let down with his goal kicking.

Guess it was not a barrell from another post code

Plenty of talk on these boards about kingsleys kicking on sat night. Thread on tambling.

Lids is very good but to be great he needs to kick those - his general goalkicking is less than average. 24 goals 24 behinds in his career prior to sat night. You cannot deny that.

Agree

25 goals, 26 behinds kicked in his career. Would be one of the worst at the club. Was a great mark, needed to finish it off

lol I take it this thread is tongue in cheek?

I guess we should be amazed that Daniel Jackson slotted a great goal 45m out on a tight angle again. If he missed we would have lost! :p

Deledio's goalkicking is actually exceptional, he had a lot of misses last year because he had so many shots on the run from 50m under pressure.

For set shots Lids is above the AFL average and just because he had a bad period where he had quite a few difficult shots you shouldn't be worried. Actually look at his drafting profiles and his stats from 2004 and you will see he was a regular - and accurate - goalkicker.

You don't lose your goalkicking accuracy it stays the same all your life, ask Richo. Deledio has had really good goal accuracy but the nature of some shots resulted in some early skewed figures that should not be taken seriously.

2007 Brett Deledio:

6 goals 4 behinds, stricking at 60%

2007 Richard Tambling
10 goals 5 behinds, stricking at 67%

Career Richard Tambling
33 goals 28 behinds

2007 Kent Kingsley
1 goal 2 behinds, stricking at at 33% + plus 3 our so that haven't made the distance

Well if this is true and he has kicked less then 50% from opurtunities over his career he must be one horrible from kicking at goal on the move

He had good figures before he was drafted, you don't literally lose foot skills! From the HBF the only shots you have is on the run from 55, often when there is flooding otherwise you wouldn't be up the ground (so it's congested and you're under more pressure). These have made Deledio's stats look worse than what he really is.

Although the Richmond curse is pretty convincing...:D

Good point, except i would have expected him to kick that goal - it was inside 50 and a set shot and not a difficult angle.

Fact is no single missed shot cost us the game. We played horrible football for 4 quarters, basically every aspect was poor. That is why we did not win.

Costly misses has been the story of our season.

Polak against Bulldogs.

Pettifer against West Coast.

Pettifer against Essendon.

Richo against a few teams.

Kingsley against Brisbane.

Why single out Lids?

turnovers cost us the game, not one single missed goal. it has been costly turnovers in just about every close loss this year that has been the difference. what about the crows game? yeah we played well for most of the game, but the first three goals to adelaide came either from direct turnovers or loose checking in the centre. in the end it was the difference, and it has been a recuring theme this season. i hope that alot of it is inexperience and that with time the team will naturally improve in this area. last quarter on saturday was woeful in terms of turnovers by both teams, but if we had been more clean with our ball use out of defence we would have won easily.
