I've stood firm in defence of Hughes in the past but I think it is time to try guys like Post, Vickery, Putt or Gourdis
As for those to get rid of I think that 6-8 is about all you can really turn over in one year and still maintain some form of competetiveness( not that we are really showing any of that)
Those I would say goodbye too would be Simmonds, McMahon, King, Pettifer, Rainse, Polak, and Johnson.... That is 7 and you could agrue a strong case for Schulz, Brown, Hughes, JON, and Bowden.... maybe even Richo
That is 13 names and that is too many to get rid of in one season.

Pettifer just played his last game for RFC you would have thought. The only 30+ players you keep are Cousins and then potentially Richo and Browny.

So bye to Johnson Simmonds Bowden Pettifer King McMahon as a starting point so its likely someone like Cleve Hughes will survive the chop which personally I dont think is the worst thing as there is something to work with if he mentally gets there.

Takes contested marks (this is overshadowed by his high amount of uncontested marks) and is always in a good position when we're struggling in the backline.

what he should be doing is playing accountable, tight checking and running the lines, and not lead to the ball by his opponent, anyone can play loose in defence and rack up pointless stats.

As an unbiased observer, I have noticed a lot of RFC players have been drafted who have been stunning prospects at the time. The problem is that a lot of these guys haven't gone on with it. Not being a top 8 side for years and the confidence drain that comes with that stigma, is largely to blame for this IMO. I still believe that you guys have a lot of talent.

Tambling, Deledio, Foley, Pattison, Raines, Edwards and Jackson are a very talented bunch of players who would look very good at Geelong or the Bulldogs. These guys are capable of a lot more than they are producing and for your sake, hopefully the next coach can get the most out of them.

Newman as captain is/was a bad choice IMO. You need to have a captain who has a profound influence on matches as well as someone who is the heart and soul of the football club. Richo bleeds yellow and black and has put up with so much throughout his career yet has refused to stop trying. He deserved the job ahead of Kane Johnson in the first place.

Retire/Delist: Simmonds, Brown, Pettifer, 1 of Johnson/Cousins, Coughlin (similar to Hentschel - looks finished), King

Couldn't have put it better myself, except I'd add Raines to the Gold Coast and doubt very much you'll get anything for Edwards, Hughes or Schulz but worth trying to play them all for the rest of the season to see if we can get some form out of them and then FTO to the highest bidder at season's end. Well, you can live in hope

They cannot possible recruit more than 10 new players from the draft but should free up enough to get a new kpp. This should make 7 places available with possibllity of 3 extra if they can get the right trades. Probably only to need to 6 drafts, only patto is currently playing of the delisted players, so may be saved and it will be unlikely anyone will go for morton or tambling.

We need to realise that some players we want banished will be under contract. If they can't be traded (and lets face it we are not brimming with tradeable talent), we'll be forced to pay them out or keep them.

Paying out players still on contract frees up a spot and gets some 'revenge' but their salary must count towards the salary cap so you don't see that happen too much.

Johnson, King, Polak and Pettifer are pretty much no brainers. Pretty hard to see Schulz being kept. Hughes, Simmonds and JON would have to be shaky too. We may be able to sacrifice one of them to the Gold Coast.

Unless they retire I would keep Richardson, Cousins and Bowden. We can delist them at the end of the following year.
