This thread gives EFC fans the opportunity to predict, based on their own intuition, what EFC management will do with our list before season 2k7.

With 24 players contracted at present, to complete our list we must sign a further 15 players from the following sources:

Draft picks (total=5)
2,18,20,36,52

Uncontracted players (total=14)
Bolton
Bradley
Cartledge
Henno
Johns
Johnson, J
Laycock
Lee
McPhee
Nash
Peverill
Rama
Reynolds
Soloman

Pre-Season Draft (speculative)

Trades (speculative)

Rookie Elevation
Jolley
Hocking
Firman
McKinnon
O'Keefe

Also indicate the future of the current rookies (retain/delist/promote).

Cheers

Disagree with keeping laycock and soloman. I would definetly offer them as trade bait, and if that fails, then re-sign them.

Apart from that, i think that it should be fairly straight forward

Is Nashy definitely out of contract ... would not be against sorting something out to get him home having heard on the wire that he was half thinking about it last year (mainly due to opportunity - which he does seem to have got this year admittedly)

Nash is out of contract, but he's also being sent to Japan with a group of youngsters seen as the next generation of leaders.

So one would presume negotiations have at the very least begun and the intent is for him to stay.

Thanks ... was thinking if a move home was on the Cards ... maybe a swap for Ezard (similar type player & original pick ... but a year less developed ) of course draft picks may have needed to be involved.

MY initial thought was (if you were looking at a third tall forward option) ... but to be honest dont really know what sort of players your looking at ... so Toby may be the wrong player.

Ezard Thurstans & pick 23 for Nask and pick 18

In all honesty, that would be laughed at pretty quickly.

We have no need for Thurstans and Nash has all the qualities we need more of.

We also won't be wanting to trade any of our top three picks.

Fair enough .... wasn't sure what type of players you needed (ie an extra tall).. so I thorugh in Thursans and paid slightly over the odds. (ie you still would have had 3 picks in first 23)... and Sheedy seems to be a lover of the romantic so bringing an Ezard into the fold may have appealled to him.

I have been suprised that Nash hasn't had more games given the games I've seen him play... and thought there may be some reason (especially given your trying to build a side to go forward with)... so thought he may have been "pinch-able".

Nash seemed to take a little longer than his fellow draftees from 2003 to adjust to the speed of the game. He was showing signs at VFL level, but he was lacking a bit of consistency and wasn't really putting his hand up.

His 2006 however, was a lot better. He did take his game to another level and is pretty much in our best 22 for 2007.

In other words .... "hands off" :)

I wouldn't go that far, just not anything involving Thurstans or any of our top three picks.

But all indications seem to lead towards him staying anyway.

And especially Thurstans given that he is on strike 2.

How refreshing it is to have an opposition supporter come in and be practical, polite and have some suggestions on trades that are at least feasible and not heavily weighted in their favour.

Although the deal suggested by Malibu27 is not what we need, it was at least close enough to being realistic and MAY appeal to another club in need of talls.

Thumbs up mate :thumbsu:

Have only thrown Toby ... and in fact the pick exchange in there because I feel we would need to give you (just a bit) extra to make up for the extra year Nash is down the track - and hence the less risk we would be taking - aqnd wasstruggling to think of ways to do it.

We are in no possition to get rid of Laycock saw what happened this year without him as our 2nd ruckmen. But Soloman is a different case we should be going for youth and unless Soloman gets back to some decent form he isn't apart of our future.

The difference between Laycock and Solomon is thet Laycock has some currency, where as i doubt that many clubs would be interested in Solomon unless they could get him for very little.

I would also like to keep Laycock, but ruckm are not our biggest definciency atm
