I haven't seen it in slow motion, but I'll take your word for it. But you can't deny that an umpire seeing that in real time should have called it a throw.

Now if it's going to be called a throw then Essendon would get called a dozen times a week.

Free kicks against Essendon? Now you're just talking rubbish! :D

for what exactly?

We can blame the umpiring, but there were a lot of mistakes from our guys. The 3rd quarter was a shocker for us, many times Richie taylor hit opposing players on the chest, there were so many turnovers, notably the one from Braun.

I do agree the umpire was pathetic with the out of bounds deliberate rule, but many mistakes cost us earlier. If those mistakes were eliminated we may have won.

All in all, after the thumping we got last year, we can hold our heads high, we will not be the easybeats as predicted for this season and in the next couple of years the WCE will be back in the finals again.

Today's game was nothing to be ashamed of. I would like to begin to think we are now in the middle pack of sides, not the bottom four as many would like to see.

I still reckon we will finish between 8th and 12th

The standard of umpiring was low, and it definately favoured Collingwood, but it is stupid to blame that for the loss.

Excuses are for losers.

I agree with every word in those two sentences.

In the 80s & early 90s sometimes we were playing the team in white too, and we had to be good enough to overcome that disadvantage. I think overall the umpiring is generally less biased against us now. We just have to get on with it.

I'm with bunsen & V o R on this - yeah, there were a few mistakes by the umpires but there usually is. The umpires are not responsible for the loss.

We clearly made far too many costly mistakes. IMO, Michael Braun is responsible for 3 quick goals to Collingwood and whilst I'm a little hesitant to say it, Worsfold should have done a 'Judge' and dragged him straight away.

Let's just be thankful we didn't have an umpiring decision like Hawthorn did yesterday - when it was clearly a goal, but called as touched, we'd have lost by less than a goal and THEN we'd have had something to complain about.

True, but who could really have played in that back pocket on Holland.....???

Wish we had another Read or Collica

Guys,
it goes both ways.

You scored a goal from a throw, and you would of lost by 7 points had you not received that soft free kick in the last minute to Gardiner, who then passed to Wilson to get it back to 1 point.

It works both ways,
there is no "conspiracy" fellas.

Why? He didn't do anything to the Collingwood bloke did he? In fact it's the other way round, getting harassed and things chucked in your face might land that guy in a bit of hot water.
