Junior is not the same as senior matches,

For goodness sakes, one of my kids played junior competitive tennis. Would that mean his junior aus open things are counted once and if they make the senior grade?
It was in the mens tournament though.

How hard is that to understand, 12 years he has competed in the Australian Open:rolleyes:

My guess would be that the last time Hewitt played in the Boys' singles at the Australian Open was 1996. As a junior in 1997, he got through the Open qualifiers. In 1998, he didn't get through the qualifiers but was given a wildcard. Then sometime in 1998, he turned pro. So, yes, he did compete in two Australian Opens when he would have been eligible to play the Boys' event instead, but one way or another, he opted to play the Mens event.
