we have key players out this week and even Fletcher is in doubt,

LLOYD CLEARED OF STRIKING

Essendon finally had some good news this week with full forward Matthew Lloyd cleared of a striking charge tonight. The charge was laid against Lloyd after the video of Friday night's match against Carlton was reviewed yesterday, but the tribunal cleared him of any wrong doing. With a number of injured players to miss this week's match against the Western Bulldogs, this news was warmly welcomed by the club. But the Bombers will be without Paul Barnard for one week, after he pleaded guilty to striking Simon Wiggins in the Round 3 match.

And so he should have been cleared. It was a frivilous and ridiculous report that wasn't worth the time it wasted before being thrown out.

However, having said that, so was his "headbutt" of Gaspar in 2001 and that was sustained. It shows how ridiculous that was when Chick did exactly the same thing on the weekend (basically just pushed at Hudgeton (sp?) with his head bowed) and it wasn't even discussed!!!

I think force was the obvious difference, he's still very lucky though, although it's about time we had some luck at the tribunal.
