Hi everyone,

Just gauging interest in participating in a long-term, head-to-head keeper league. I'm looking for up to 16 teams to take part in a draft-style comp, only put your hand up if you are likely to continue playing each year. There will be a $25 entry fee each year with 100% of the kitty going to the premier.

RULES-
Supercoach scoring will be used, with squad composition different. Each team will be required to draft 38 players for their squad, and each week will be required to field a team of 18 players in the following positions: 2 Key Defenders, 3 Small Defenders, 4 Mid-Fielders, 1 Ruck, 3 Small Forwards, 2 Key Forwards, 2 Bench Players (any position), and 1 Substitute. The sub will only be activated if another player on your field gets the red vest in a game and scores less than your sub. If a player is played out of position (position lists will be issued before each draft and will not change during the season) they will score half points (rounded up). There will be no captains or vice-captains.

There will be an annual draft. For the initial draft, picks will be allocated randomly and in alternating fashion (i.e. if you have the first pick in Rd 1 you will have the last pick in Rd 2, first in Rd 3 etc). In following years draft picks will be allocated in reverse of the previous years finishing order. The initial draft will begin sometime after the NAB AFL Draft (TBD), and continue until everyone has made their picks. After each season concludes each team can de-list players and will be allocated the number of draft picks needed to fill their list at the time of the draft.

Trades can be made at any time of the season, and can be vetoed by 3 votes against (reasons must be given). In-season trades must involve each team gaining and losing an equal number of players as there will be no "free-agents" list, players can only enter your team through trades or drafting. In the period between the end of each season and the holding of the draft, trades involving draft picks will also be allowed.

Fixturing will depend on the amount of teams, but if possible everyone will play everyone else once, with 4 rounds of finals in the same fashion as supercoach. There will be no games played in the rounds in which AFL teams have byes.

And finally, the competition will be run on a bigfooty forum, with links provided to spreadsheets with fixturing/tables/player lists. This may be tedious at times, but I will try to make it as smooth as possible. If people want to play but have issues with some of the rules, I am very willing to listen to ideas to improve the concept. Post in here or PM me with interest, and alert anyone else who might be interested.

Ta.

I am going to change one thing quickly. The break up of the 18 positions was based on an alternate scoring system, and is less applicable to supercoach with KD's and KF's not scoring great. I will change it to 4 defenders, 5 mids, 1 ruck, 4 forwards, 3 bench and 1 sub.

Interesting idea Caramel old son. Might just give it a miss for now mate but all the best

Keen i will be in

also not that it matters? will there be 2 drafts to start? all players the this years national or is it fully open slather?

Who decides the positions?

I am in another keeper league, not based on SC scores, where the league administrator also has his own team. Every year some player positions get shafted while the administrators own players often seem to be dual-positioned. It is a free comp but it is still very frustrating.

So sorry to burst your bubble, because I love the concept, but when you keep players I would want very clear and transparent rules in place before I pay for a spot.
