It is quite Intresting to see our 2 1st Round Picks where Home Runs but the last 3 National Draft Picks did not Work out though JA had a very good 2009 Season where he kicked 50 Goals.

Iiles and Stanley are at the Gold Coast Suns;.

Rookie Draft was not Great but we got Toovey from it.

06 Draft won us the premiership... possibly the best drafting ever...

As for the 05 - wouldn't have it any other way, Pendles and Thomas two of, if not the best performed from that draft.

It's not like the other three were monumental stuff ups. Stanley and Iles are doing very well for the Suns and Cook was ok.

Sure they weren't quite good enough for our best 30 or so, but they weren't terrible players.

Stanley delisted by GC last week I think.

I have to admit I was a bit of a fan but maybe the VFL (where he's been excellent) is his level.

They delisted Jack Stanley. Danny Stanley has been huge for the GC and will finish in the top 4-6 of their B&F this year.

I wonder if the recruiters assess the mental and personality side of the players before they draft them.

It boggles my mind that players can do so well in the VFL yet when they come into the AFL they play horribly.

Cox, Cook, Anthony and Stanley obviously all have talent and had the ability to play at the AFL level but somehow it just didn't work out for them.

Obviously Stanley is now gunning it at GC but how he didn't play like that at Collingwood means that either Collingwood or him were doing something wrong.

over the WHOLE lot of selection, 06 was probably better.

But Pendles and Thomas cloud the judgement. Any draft that has Pendles is I guess the best draft.

stanley couldnt get a goal at his old club and jack couldnt get one at his new club.

So three premiership players, a 50 goal forward, a fantastic Gold Coast draftee and a handy player........

not bad.......

It really only means Ryan Cook and a couple of rookies didnt make it. And one of the rookies was a super talent but uber lazy.

Gotta laugh at Hawthorn. No wonder they punted Pelchen. They wanted Daisy no doubt.

Of the top 10, Ellis, Dowler & Oakley-Nicholls are the worst players.

Also, if Hawthorn had pick 4 in 2004, they would have taken Tambling who was rated no.2 prior to the draft. Hawthorn took Roughead instead at pick 2 because they new the Bulldogs were going to take Griffin leaving Richmond more likely to take a tall (Franklin) with pick 4, as they took a small in Deledio. Alas, Franklin landed in their lap as there was a clear top 5 players in that draft.

If we had nailed picks 21 + 23, it would have been bigger than what it is. Thomas + Pendles and Tooves off the rookie list were inspired choices considering many thought we got it wrong but as a whole 2006 was the stuff dreams are made of.

How can you go past Reid, Brown, Dawes and Goldsack. Rookie listed were Wellingham, Macaffer and Marty Clarke who was a very good talent. 6 premiership players in total and most crucial to our lineup.

2 guns with top 5 picks is more than passable but the rest of the 2005 draft was average at best. 2006 on the other hand was awesome. 3 quality KP players is about as good a wish list as you could hope for.

Was very happy with the first 2 picks. Saw every Gippsland game live that year and was awesome to get both Daisy and Pendles to the pies. Would have been good to pick a few more Gippy boys but can't always get what you want.

2006 was great!
