Hi there

I was working in Brisbane and was not a Lions fan. I knew a group of girls who were members and found them pretty painful at times. I moved to Sydney at the beginning of 2004 and started watching the Swans. It was love at first sight. 2005 was a big year for Swans fans and enjoyed the roller coaster since then. I'm not happy to have both Franklin and Tippett in the same side even if it is within the salary cap.

Some topics I would like personal views on include:
  1. Number of teams in the competition and future expansion. Expand. Contract and move teams to the VFL.;
  2. Salary cap discounts for long serving players;
  3. Rule changes;
  4. Programming of matches. Is the AFL too concerned with 'block buster' matches.

Thanks tigerninja. Bad luck over last Saturday. I did tip your guys to win and I like Dimma as a coach.

My reasoning is the Swans gets a of cost of living increase on the salary cap which I think is around 10%. Having lived in Sydney for 6 years and knowing how expensive living there can be, I don't think the Swans should have this extra cap. The players don't have to live in Bondi, Vaucluse, Neutral Bay or Kirribilli. The Hills and the Shire come to mind as places to live. The club could assist players through education opportunities, business deals, personal sponsorship, employment etc.

I'm not happy salary cap pressures meant the Swans losing Mumford, Malceski, Jesse White and Andrej Everett whilst keeping Tippett who I'm still waiting to kick a huge bag of goals to justify his price tag. Franklin has won us a few games on his own back and has lifted some of the players around him such Parker, Cunningham and Towers.

So what do people think of the salary cap?
