Lost my TFN

Yes I had it on a piece of paper ready for my new job but alas I've lost the bastard. Can I get it back online or do I need to ring the ATO?

You could check any old group certificates or tax returns if you have them. Or if you have done your taxes through an accountant you could call them. If not, set aside a few hours to ring the ATO!!

You have to ring the ATO on 13 28 61. Don't listen to the poster above who said it will take a few hours, they are extremely dead right now so you won't be on the phone very long at all.

I thought you had to go somewhere in person to get your TFN... they are security Nazi's at the ATO (and probably justifiably).

Pretty sure you need only call. They'll ask a few identification questions that can get a bit curly though!

Lost mine about a year ago. Gave em a buzz answered a few questions and they gave it to me. Took about 15 - 20 mins. Easy as.
