First it was Broughton. Then Barlow and Silvagni. Now the rookie list has handed us another gun in Lower. Just watched the replay again and he was absolutely outstanding today. He was everywhere and his disposal was terrific. His attack on the ball and the player is De boer like.

Makes you wonder what goes on at
other clubs to think this guy has been delisted

From where we were sitting at the SCG certainly had a HUGE impact on the game....

The boy is a star
 
As far as tough-kamikaze-intense-crazy-committment is concerned NO-ONE is higher than Lower!
Also reads the play,delivers team oriented 4 quarters,distribution is better every week;another flying brick.
Agreed Mr Chow,yet another astonishingly good steal.
 
He was superb; he could of been playing like that all year if Harve's and the coaching staff didn't refuse to play him in the right position. The guy is not a backman, Port made that mistake so we need to play him more in the midfield.

We have got so many high quality players for virtually nothing, and that is a quality that most premiership teams possess! Great recruiting
 
it's good recruiting, but our development guys must also be doing something right.

we've essentially got another deboer, who comes with his own set of smarts. i thought last year we needed one more battering ram, stand-up-at-all-costs mofo to really make us accountable, and in lower we've also got a dude with awesome vision for a handball and knack for goal. harvs is also a big fan, talking up his leadership skills in the post match interview. what a brilliant get.

Subbing him in the last derby still leaves me shaking my head ....I was sure he must of been injured.

We are still a few players off a flag, can our recruiting staff go the rookie well again this off season?

Geez Powa are just plain stupid to let him go.. considering what an utter rabble and laughing stock the Powa are now.

Already knew Lower was an inside mid.

Doesn't mean we haven't been playing uncontested footy, malpaso. Good to get a win, but we lost the contested possessions and was smashed in the clearances. These things don't make premiership sides.

I think they can, the players they've picked up previously have all been 'noticed' previously and disregarded. That has to be their strategy, targeting late bloomers or seeing a player in the wrong position.

I think we'll go KPP this time.

So Sydney won the clearances (smashed us), won the contested possessions count and LOST the game. :confused:

I agree with you to a point about premiership sides but I don't think being a smash-mouth footy team is the definitive trademark of a premiership/winning side but it does go a long way.

We are in the top 5 tackling teams in the comp. that's hardly playing outside footy.

Are Sydney second to the ball all the time? They are 2-6 at the SCG this year.

There is more to a footy team than clearances and stoppages, look at the Saints, they were pretty good at it the last 2 seasons and they fell short.

There is more to a footy team than clearances and stoppages, but it is the fundamental. The Saints lack a lot of class in key areas, yet made it as far as they did because of clearances and stoppages. The Swans won a premiership basically on the back of that.

You sort out the fundamentals - winning the contested ball, doing the hard things, dominating through the clearances - you win more games that you lose.

West Coast, Brisbane, Geelong, have all worked to this template and been exceedingly successful.

We beat Sydney with two of our best players being no nonsense, solid workman style footballers who do the solid things. Essentially, that, and Fyfe, is why we won it.
 
+1 for the man love. Absolutely love the way he goes about it, hopefully will form a formidable tag team with DeBoer in the future.
 
Great game doesnt suprise me 1 bit his 2 best games were when he played the majority of game through midfield.
I see him an Palmer the same way either play them in the guts or not at all.
They dont have the skills or athleticism for any other roles, but the 1 they can do is exactly what we need.

We have gone from a team under cuddles full of in an under small but solid midfielders to almost none.
We dont need too many of them but gotta have some.
