Damn 25 mins for a LRT thread, people are getting slow around here :p

As for LRT very much a development player, still has a lot to learn in regards to positioning, disposals etc but showing some glimpses things are falling into place for him IMHO

Difficult to tell who he was playing on on TV, but I saw him on a cloke a few times. Werent the clokes goal-less.
Did LRT's direct opponent kick any goals?
Did the pies game break down across CHF for the 1st 3 quarters?
Did LRT ping Buckley for holding the ball?
Did LRT do an awesome bit of ground work in the last quarter to get the lose ball and offload it?

Did LRT get outmarked by Woewodin in the goal square in a one-on-one contest?

He was actually pretty good until that mark.

He gets outmarked by a brownlow medalist and you want him sent back to the 2's.
In case you are unfamiliar with woewoeful, his brownlow came about because he has a lot of football smarts and skills which he was able to hide his complete lack of pace behind....until he was "found out" a year later. So take speed out of a scenario and he's still a quality player.

LRT is a KPP, Woewodin is a midfielder. The fact he couldn't at least spoil a player who was much smallr and lighter than him shows he has a long way to go.

Forget my first comment I was being facetious as was the OP of this thread.

Probably his best game for Sydney, shut Cloke out of the game to the point he was taken off the ground. Played him very close so that kicking to him was never an option, Cloke had been Colligwoods 'go to' man in previous 3/4 games. LRT did a terrific job!

Not a complete footballer by any stretch of the imagination, but getting better every week.

Interested that Walls made no comment on the 'ultra flood' employed by Collingwood for almost the entire game, NOT UGLY Robert ?

Was a bit hard to tell from where I was sitting.

Definitely improved from the start of the season, but has a long way to go. Still seems to have trouble reading the flight of the ball, and is absolutely lost in body-on-body marking contests.

Agree with that. Also have to give him credit for playing so tight to Cloke 3rd that he was never really an option.

In that mark Woewodin took on him, Woewodin was very "clever" in using his arms to keep LRT away from the flight of the ball. He actually had a handful of LRT's jumper but I guess the umpire didn't see that.

Didn't notice during the game but he did do a reasonable number of good things in defence that helped clear the ball and his ability to assist in clearing the ball when he doesn't have much time to think about it is improving all the time. He saved at least one almost definite goal with one piece of courage and skill.

That dive on the loose ball in the final quarter was really important. No doubting his courage or effort and I guess the good thing as such is he isn't costing us bags of goals week after week, so he is worth persisting with in the seniors where his learning will hopefully be a lot faster.

I dont think LRT was even on Woewoeful when he took that mark. Just another example of LRT's covering other teammates.

LRT played on cloke who was dragged, then Egan in the final quarter who had one mark outside 50 and thats it. After taking his man(men) out of the game, LRT then set about helping out his teammates. Quality game. Anyone who complains about that game has some serious bias.

LRT will be captain in 5-7 years.

Handful of jumper on the chest is not unusual in those shoving marking contests. Woewodin simply outpositioned and outbodied him, and Woewodin not actually renowned as a great mark!

He was in the contest with Woewoeful - good enough for me as being on him.

If he wasn't on him, then who was he on, and why was he so far away from his opponent

I've gotta give it to him because he has improved quite a bit. His handballing is getting pretty good.

I didn't think LRT's performance last night warrants much criticism. He played far better than a number of others. Granted, it was hardly BOG, but it wasn't the worst either. It was an average AFL-level performance, which is promising, but nothing extraordinary.

No offence, but the mods do seem a bit impressed with their own power on here. Some of the condescending posts in the RWO thread were way over the top

That for me, was almost play of the game. He made the ball his, clamped it into the dirt, opposition attackers flew past him, he dished it off as good as it can be done and the ball cleared the danger zone.

The heat was on, collective hearts raced and who should save the day, everyone's favourite anti-hero, LRT.

I said to my wifey on the walk back, it was moments like that one, that saved Sydney's butt and made the game great!

LRT was woeful today.

I watched our forward line today and both Hall and MOL, I think, that's a guess, played much of the first 3Qs out of the square.

We have a genuine void at CHF and suspect we lack a bit of "structure", that overused word.

Put LRT there as nuisence value at least and he might even provide a target from defence, because as it is when we get run off HB it often lands in our CHF no mans land and both Hall and MOL are at full stretch to get to it on the full, and our kicking is so shizen it often falls well short.

I didn't think LRT was beaten by his opponent today but he gave us nothing else. I think he spent most of the second half on the bench. That he doesn't give us much and is not really expected to is partly evidenced by the fact that is never a marking target. A guy of his height should be a great long marking target from a kickout but it never happens (probably because he couldn't do it).

I think we should put Vogels at CHF to give us another marking option.

I thought he was okay without having a real impact on the game, save for that attempted mark when he should have punched. I didn't see him in at all the 2nd half, but maybe that was because I was too busy shouting expletives at the TV.

As for that void, I think Vogels should fill that role. He was doing quite nicely until he was surreptitiously dropped as a last minute withdrawal, and I don't think his replacement Saddo plays the same kind of role he does.

Saddo!!! How far over the hill is he.

Give one of the taller 2's players a go in front of him please.
