Pretty obvious from the way we performed against Brisbane when Pendles was out we have no young leaders, no one stood up at all. Going to massively miss Ball.

He can be added to the list of guys pushed out 1yr early, Leon, Dids and now Ball.

Bucks wants to work with the Young Leaders instead of getting 1 last season out of Ball

Aware but stepping up might not be all that easy for some and might go against their nature so it's silly to get rid of one of a couple great leaders we have.

In all honesty I'd have kept Bally on for another year even if I knew he won't play a game.
Oh well Buckley has other ideas..

Good on ya Bally. Great career, great clubman. Hope we see a lot more of you at CFC in the future. Thanks for the past 5 years and especially the 2010 premiership....oh and that goal in the 2011 prelim wasn't that shabby either.

Live long and prosper.

Always saw him as the gift (from St Kilda) that kept on giving.

Still shaking my head in amazement about the circumstances in which he left the Saints and came to us. Was our lucky day.

I agree with you 100%, this team isn't going to do better next season with all the experience leaving the club.

From one the youngest premiership teams to losing the following players in 4 years, Maxwell, L.Brown, C.Dawes, S.Wellingham, Didak, Ball, D.Thomas, D.Jolly, B.Johnson, H.Shaw and like I said Goldsack is looking fairly likely. That's almost half the premiership team gone and when that happens there will be tough times ahead.

The way Didak was playing in his last month he wasn't finished and I think it's a shame no one picked him up but such is life.
Maybe Swanny can step up and become the deputy behind Pendles?

Thanks Ball for your time at Collingwood

Adams Its your time to shine

Reading some of their comments, saying how the way Ball left was poor.

Well if you got crap time in the Grandfinal who wouldn't leave.

Damo saying he was pushed out I hope this isn't true

He said was not pushed out but as Buckley has been doing seems he wants to Focus on the Kids he has Brought into the Club and happy to move on Veterans

So pushed out to play kids

Was Mutual but Bucks wanted to play Kids.

“I still have the competitive will to play on but the team is evolving and physically I know I need everything to go right to meet my expectations and the standard required by the team,” he said in a statement
.

That sums it up well. He knew that his Body had to stand up for the Full Year too be a good player but at his Age Injuries can come quick and fast

Requires back surgery to play in 2015, interrupted preseason, limited game time, I think he made a great decision. Then again he's a smart bloke so of course he'd make the right decision. Get a hold of him now pies. He'd make a great administrative bookend alongside Maxy.

I'm shattered that this has gone down the way it has. He clearly wanted to play on. Losing Maxwell and Ball from our leadership group is a disaster for us. Earlier this year I hoped we'd have both next year. It will hurt badly to have neither.

I think we've made a mistake here.

Thanks for your efforts Bally, you are a dead set champ. It was a very lucky day for our club when you took our phone call.

I have a question guys,
If his back is stuffed as the club says, why is he still playing tomorrow night?
95% of the players would have niggles (injuries) at this stage of the year. The back surgery required might not be too serious but it would impinge upon his preseason. Even young fit players require full preseasons to maximise their chances of success during the real season, an ageing inside mid with a bad back would probably end up injured again in 2015 and then he'd lose the chance to go out on his own terms. I'd love it if great players never got old, but they do and the best ones get to go out on top. Good on you Lukey Ball.
