In the abysmal excuse for a season update in the West on Monday they said that Luke Webster will be ready for Round 1.

I thought the Club was hoping he might be ready by June. In fact I'm almost sure it is mid-year and the West has maintained its repuration for quality and accurate reporting.

Anyone know where Luke is at? Anyone seen how he's training?

I doubt the West (Coast) Australian has much of an idea of what's happening at Freo. If he did his knee during the finals, I can't see him being ready by Round 1....
If he is I think he's just earnt himself the nickname of "Superman".

Unless they've been rubbing some magic emu oil on Luke's knee, I always thought this type of injury put you out for at least 12 months. He may be ready to play in the reserves for that team formerly from the East side of Perth.

June sounds realistic, but I won't put money on it.

Does the West have journalists or is it written by the buskers in the mall?.

I saw him 4 weeks ago down at freo oval............ he had a large knee brace on doing 20 m kicks from standing start with the left foot. Libba made it back in record time but time was running out for him.

Been doing some reading,

FREMANTLE: SPEEDSTER James Walker ran 10.87sec in the 100m at a meet in Perry Lakes last month. Walker has been training with Australian 100m runner Adam Basil, who is coached by the club's strength and conditioning coach, Adam Larcom. Others going well are Andrew Browne, Byron Schammer, Aaron Sandilands, Des Headland and Paul Medhurst. Larcom said Medhurst had put on 6kg, Justin Longmuir 7kg and Troy Simmonds 5kg. "Peter Bell has improved his speed and Matthew Pavlich has been the all-round best runner," Larcom said. "Luke Webster did his ACL (knee), but he's on track for Round 1. We're a lot better off than we were last year."

Surely not? The ACL is the big one isn't it?

Yep I thought the ACL was the big one.

On a similar note, have Lazy Boy Parker and Cool Hand Luke decided to attend pre season training?, I'm starting to think Mr Parker thinks the club owes him something ...........

Dud hamstrings, what baloney, he's spending too much time at Daniels place ..........

it would probably be better if he doesnt start in round one..even if he's fit. i say CC whacks him on at subi oval some time during the season...i dont know why but if i say that it makes it sound i know what im doing

And what does the C in ACL stand for????
The ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) is perhaps the most-feared injury amongst all athletes.

and
Fremantle utility Luke Webster has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will undergo a knee reconstruction. The talented youngster has already had two reconstructions on his left knee.

Rd 1 was obviously a typo... although from the injuryupdate website...
Peter Brukner outlined that in the USA, particularly in the NBA, that players would return from knee reconstruction after six months. He claimed that in Melbourne, surgeons suffered from the "David Schwarz syndrome", and were scared to recommend return inside 12 months, due to criticism leveled at Melbourne Football Club after David Schwarz twice broke down after early return from a knee reconstruction in 1995 and 1996. Dr John Grant, who performed some of the first knee reconstructions in Australia, told the audience it was worth waiting 12 months as studies had shown that the graft was at only 40% strength after six months, and nothing in recent years had been shown to increase the speed of healing. Chris Grant (no relation) who is currently sitting out the season himself, also thought that 12 months was the best timeframe, even though he watched his teammate Tony Liberatore return successfully after 16 weeks in the late 1990s. Peter Hudson, who was the VFL leading goalkicker in 1971, then was struck down by an ACL injury in 1972, said it took until 1975 for him to return to full confidence on the knee.
