Ok - we know all the arguments. No need to go over them all again. I'm just interested in who Richmond supporters think would be the best choice for finals football. Your decision. Who would YOU pick?

And, of course, the club and selectors will have their own reasons for selection and will (rightfully) pay not a skerrick of attention to this. The poll means nothing, other than what we think.

I am assuming Riewoldt is fully fit, as well. No what-ifs, no 'special considerations'.

I have a feeling it will be pretty close.........................

Going to be tough but you have to go with form and right now Edwards is in top form. If he performs well against the Dons next week then the spot is his for the finals.

i went azza, but reckon both will not be at the club next year, mcguane will attract a bit of interest from a few lower ranked clubs particularly 2 in qld and we may trade and azza has been handy but may be culled as we give the bean, griff and co the big push. good luck anyways boys..

Put them together and we have a very good player, separately they are very average. Mcguane usually plays well first game back then plays crap so thinking outside the square lets alternate them starting with mcguane in week 1
In reality tigers will play Mcguane over azza any day of the week.

It's a close race. I gave it to McGuane.....just. Next year I anticipate they will both be overtaken (or possibly gone)

It's probably worth noting that last year, Edwards kicked his only bag of goals against GWS and the year before against Melb and Gold Coast. My main concern about us recruiting him was that I had never see him play well in a big game. I still haven't.

At least McGuane plays a decent 1st quarter or half and helps get the ball rolling.

So why didnt we play McGuane on the weekend? The mysterious "leg" injury was the same injury that we seemed to have every second week last year.

I gave it to McGuane.

He provides greater intensity and pressure than Edwards when the opposition has the ball and this will be paramount in a final. While doing this, he still provides a viable leading option and his ability to provide this is not significantly behind Edwards' ability to do so.

The area he clearly does lack behind Edwards in is precision kicking (both field and around goals). However I don't think Edwards' advantage in this area should be enough to keep out McGuane. McGuane is actually a reasonably good set shot, it's just when quick thinking/action has to occur that he struggles.

Keep Azza in the team, McGuan is far too inconsistent for my liking.

Love my tigers but take these "injury niggles" with a grain of salt as the selectors play around in preparation for the finals. Who really knows the extent of jacks actually injury and we all know Newy will be ok for week 1 of the finals

Edwards easily.

Much more composed and skilled footballer. Destroys McGuane in forward smarts in that most of the time with his leading he drags his opponent away from Jack and Vickery which opens up the forward line. McGuane can tend to fly into packs against those two a bit.

Good observation.

When it comes to the crunch, I wouldn't out my eggs in the Luke McGuane basket for finals. He's turned his career around but he's still suspect under pressure whereas the worst azza could do is go missing.

Azza's defensive pressure couldn't be measured yesterday, but the only way McGuane will play finals is if Azza loses his desperation.
