In an article in The Age today, Garry Lyon, rather than choosing his All-Australian team, chooses a team that he would "happily and confidently" hand the responsibility to play for his life.

Under categories such as Competitors, Courage and Consistency he chooses players such as Kirk, Selwood, Judd, Ablett, Reiwoldt and Brown.

Then under the category of Class and Youth, he picks Paddy Dangerfield. Unfortunately he doesn't make any further comment about him, other than to say he is not a token selection, but finishes by saying that this team "would not let you down." Agreed.

Hopefully the first of many representative selections for Paddy.

Consistency

Chris Judd, Simon Black, Gary Ablett and Matthew Scarlett are the epitome of this.

The gap between their peerless best and their quieter games is minimal. When was the last time they had a shocker?

Against Adelaide.
