I was watching the lions-Demons game last nite(2/7) . Mr Blight was commentating. He said that Daniher need to do some research(stats/videos) on the players who had played badly V Hawks,Freo and now the Lions. to see if there was any common denomenators(players) playing poorly

He said those players should be not be played again until they rectified their defficiencies. Blight said if these players weren't identified soon, they would also be the ones to come unstuck in the finals.

He was asked if that what he did when he was coach he said he tried to do this always.

Blight about to name demon players he thought were the ones not performing consistently but stopped and said daniher need to do his own home work.

I wonder if he is sick of playing golf on the gold coast and has the itch to coach again this side of the rabbit proof fence??

Yeah I watched the game and Blighty seemed to be right back into footy - he was loving it! The man is an eccentric genius and I'd like to see him coach again. But if he doesn't he's good value as a special comments man.

I am crows fan in WA and follow the dockers as I cant stand the weagles. If you could lure Blight out of retirement, it would be a major plus but expect some pain as he does not suffer fools.

That is part of the reason that St Kilda got rid of him as they are an undisciplined team and are to soft on the players, and in the end one or the other had to go.

He went through the crows with a broom, and is unconventional but gets results.

The dockers to my way of thinking have always taken heart from being average, and should have performed by now.

Look at the crows as an example. ******** list to a large degree. Most of the midfield getting on but they have managed to coble it together with some younger players who are not world beaters. I felt they would finish in around 12 to 14 but they have suprised me with their performance, mind you I didnt see a lot of todays game.

The dockers have a better list I feel, but just dont have the hardness and if I knew why I would be the million dollar man.

I think the board were ****************s by signing CC so early in the year and he is an average coach, mind you I think he has the best win/loose ratio of any of the coaches so far.

So back to the main point if you could lure Malcom, you would be a lucky team

Dicko: you used the word 'lure' and that is where the Saints went wrong. If Blighty put his hand up for the job, he'd be an awesome coach to have.

Good post i was going to make the same observations about his comments from that game on our board. I really don't think that malcolm's got the desire to coach a full season of afl football at this stage. But he would make an excellent coach's advisor in that he could offer his services to any club who wants him to come in and make an honest assement of the playing list like what he was refering to in the Melbourne/Brisbane game last night.
Because let's face it the guy has a brilliant football brain and has done everything possible that you can in the game.

Blighty has to have the passion; to a lesser degree Iam still not sure if he all that much passion to coach again but being from South Australia he did it to help the Adelaide football club (1997-2000) but did it out of respect for Bill Sanders and John Reid.

We've probably got better golf courses here than in Adelaide, Margaret River wine isn't that far away... there's fishing off Rotto, the Dockerland boys could always take down to the Cannington dishlickers too! Keep him occupied when he's not analysing the footy!
