Well new screens are released and it looks like it's a FPS.

Just a few screens now.

Can't wait.

Massive Action Game is set to be released in late 2009.

YESSSSSSS!

I was praying that they wouldn't go with the 3rd person perspective.

This game will either flop hard or be awesome.

What is it? 256 players in one game?

That's correct.

256 players in 16, 8 man squads(On each team).

My biggest fear is that this will be P2P(Pay 2 Play) with a monthly subscription.

Graphics look pretty damn awesome as well.

PS3 only? Let me vent my PC gamer bitterness but saying that it will lag like a bitch ;)

Oh and how did the 3d FPS creator game go mate? Still plugging away at that or something similar?

*facepalm* This game will not lag. Bookmark it.

And to MM, I stopped man. Gave up, takes way to much time. 20 hours for one level? Not worth it.

More like Massive Lag Game amirite?
It could be, but PS3 developers seem to have some kind of freakish net code on their hands.

Resistance:FoM was a launch title and had lag free 40 player games.

Resistance 2 had 60 players without lag.

It does seem easily possible.

Depends on your internet connection I guess.

And yeah, FPS creator isn't the greatest thing going around. It does lack some very basic things. You'd be better off learning how to use Torque if you wanted to make proper games. It'd take more time but is more rewarding actually making the stuff (well most of it) yourself.

Doubt it, it's not an MMO, at least not in the technical sense, it will be like any other FPS, only in a massive(Nice pun) context.

Highly doubt it will be a lag fest, the game will work in a way that it will curb most of the lag and as Scooterb said R:FoM and R2 both had high numers per game with zero lag.

Looking forward to the game, glad it will be an FPS, didn't want a SOCOM like TPS(As it is from the makers of the original SOCOM's), will hopefully allow for some fast paced, high action combat.

And from this screenshot the maps will be huge(Graphics look pretty good in the regular screenshots too):

cause if i set my expectations extremely low then it can only impress me from there ;) haha

in all honesty though it looks/sounds ok and is extraordinarily ambitious but it's a definite wait and see for me.
not really sold on it as of yet.

256 player FPS and you're not sold?

the amount of players means jack all really.....it's not like you can take on more than 3-4 at a time without dying anywayz....
it's how they manage the whole thing that will determine how good it ends up being no doubt

as i said it's a definite wait and see and it's ridiculously ambitious.
if they pull it off it could end up being the king of all fpsHOOTERS

but as it stands i have enough fps's as it is and the only definite is modern warfare 2 for me

I love how big the map is. It's like running around a whole suburb.

I'm guessing vehicles would be in it? I could see me jumping in a vehicle with all my mates and driving around the outskirts of town to flank the enemies. :thumbsu:

256 Cod 4 style multiplayer with big maps would sell me.

Too bad very few games are able to emulate multiplayer as good as Cod's.
The original SOCOM's were ****ing good in their own right(I even noticed how much Confrontation was like COD4, even though it was made by a different dev), with Zipper behind the wheel I don't think this game will be poor.

Looks really open world, can see there could be some amazing tactics thought up while playing.

Seems so, one cool feature(Apparently), is that you will be able to spawn(Or start the game) by parachuting from a plane(As seen in the screenshots), can you imagine that, parachuting in on the battlefield, will be so friggen cool.

So far what I have gathered(Nothing officially confirmed), is that the squad you are in will be given objectives, thus placing battles all around the map, so while it won't be 128 vs 128 in the literal sense, it will allow the game to change tactics and everything on the move.
but as it stands i have enough fps's as it is and the only definite is modern warfare 2 for me
Apparently MAG will be a FPS/TPS hybrid, much like SOCOM, where you will be able to choose between FPS and TPS views, so that adds an element right there over other FPS's.

Too bad KZ2s MP > CODs MP.

I'd rate SP of COD4 > SP of KZ2 though.

Yes, well obviously I haven't played KZ2, so can't judge.

As I said, there aren't many, but there are a few games with mutiplayer as good as Cods.

Some of these would be: KZ2 (as you said), Halo 3, Counter strike, TF2, L4D, maybe the resistance games (can't really say myself) etc, etc.

But I don't know if this game will be able to be as good as the aforementioned in terms of game mechanics.

Also, the Cod series and the above are all built on fairly solid premises and themes (maybe with the exception of counterstrike) but it seems that with this all the developers are peddling is the 256 multiplayer.

If the gameplay is shit, it will get old fast.

Remember, to have a game with that many people, a fair few people need to be bothered playing it first.

generally i hate big maps and vehicles but i get the feeling both will gel with this game perfectly

i am actually getting interested now simply because of the possibilities....
i get the feeling gametypes could potenially be HOURS long
i would LOVE if that happened.....though i doubt it...

Personally I hated TF2, I thought it was a horrible game. I only played this on the PS3 though, just seemed way to.....basic and boring. Especially seeing it was cartoony.

I agree with KZ2, Halo 3, Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead all being in the same boat as CODs MP.

Resistance 2 is great online, with Co Op and 60 person online but it would just be outside the likes of CODs Multiplayer.
