By crikey, I almost felt empathy for 2016 Sydney.

What an appalling display from the dog fanciers in yellow.

That third quarter in particular was a textbook display of shitbaggery and f ckknuckleness.

Brave win from the Fremantles. Hopefully a famous win.

If AFL headquarters are even listening to Bevo, let alone altering their interpretation of the rules to suit him, I will murder a campaigner.

There were genuinely two sets of rules in that third quarter. A couple of maggot mistakes I can hack. They’re kind of human. They make mistakes.

But that shit was other level.

Good on us for rising above. Some umpires lost money on today’s result.

And based on what I heard on ABC radio, I’m guessing the media won’t go near it

‘Can we talk about the umpiring” asked one of the panel after the game. “Ok, so I don’t normally raise concerns with the umpiring, but I found that it was hard to understand some of the HTB decisions today. But I wan to stress - it didn’t favour one team over the other”. WTF?

To me that is gutless, corporate crap. Tell it like it is/was.

I haven’t been that wild at game day officiating for very long time.

It went beyond incompetence and was genuinely corrupt.
How could it not be ? it was at our home ground ffs.
It’s not like they weren’t reminded after every decision

For me it's always been an undercurrent from the AFL to see fast flowing high scoring football that generates more revenue. It dates back to Roly era when congestion was on the nose. JLo although nowhere near as defensive has a defence first game plan.
Oh and we are a non-Victorian team off broadway so no one really cares...

The AFL are money hungry so they push the goal fest game plans and change the rules to open up the game.

It’s like they are waiting for the next guy or not sure who’s the controlling ump
Fast games exacerbate this .

I agree completely. More umpires means more deferral of responsibility and committee-like decisions and less consistency.

I’ve been watching footy seriously for forty years and have always been one of those blokes that tried not to bag umpires. We need them. But they lost me yesterday. It was so one-sided it genuinely seemed liked a fix was in.

Adelaide went and directly called it out to the AFL, wish our club had the balls to do the same? Obviosuly didn't directly impact the result, but that shouldn't be the point. The officiating isn't up to standard, and blatantly disadvantages non-victorian or non-expansion teams.
Why does it always seem to be Freo or Adelaide on the end of absolute stinkers? Because the AFL genuinely doesn't have any care about these sort of off-broadway teams.

My boys have never seen my so animated watching Freo play. They both moved to the far end of the couch out of arms reach.

There was a free against JOM early in the game and I thought “Is that how it’s going to be today?” Nope! We had to get three frees to be awarded one.

Khamis wasn’t even trying to get rid of it.

Edit: Am I the only one that thought Darcy’s first goal was a straight forward push in the back on Pearce?

Normally don't care about the umps at all, but holy hell that was genuinely awful. Hard not to feel like they were told to go easier on the Dogs after they got royally shafted last week. Maybe that means we get a good run with it next week...lolz

Probably.
But it also proves that they didn't listen. He was whinging that he doesn't know how HTB is being umpired, and we still don't. Unless the answer is to find out that the umpies decide to only pay HTB to the team that they chose out of a hat before the game.
