I cant believe Makepeace is delisted . He is a quality player I would have

him in the Top 5 or so at North .

Unless theres something there that we dont know .

I know his 27 but what do u guys think about us taking him in the

pre season draft ... he could really add stability and flow in our back half .

I agree to the point that if no young player of any great talent is available in the PSD he's worth a go.

He would offer better depth than alot of the players we rely on at present.

Makepiece is definately better than guys like Livo or Prender, but I still wouldnt have him at my club, He is an average player, who really adds nothing new to our club. Bring in Brooks if we can.

I think he would be a great snare if we can get him in the pre-season draft. Also, he would add a bit of experience to the club and i see him as quality defender.

Pick him!

I was actually going to mention his name but thought I would be laughed at.
I would definatly look at picking him up in the PSD, he add's pace to our backline (something we desperatly need) and he also is a great user of the ball, something with Livo, Teague, Thornton, McGrath, Sporn we don't have alot of. Also with him being only 27 he still has 4 - 5 years ahead of him.

The only reason he wasn't played this year was a personality clash with Laidley. For my money, was one of their best players before this year; certainly their most consistent.

Sort of bloke where we need to make an exception to our 24 and under rule.

Experienced defender who can take the small forward pocket from the opposition and nullify him but also able to zone-off and create. Exactly what we need.

Didn't he get his start under Dennis?

I would have a look at him

Got 4 years still in him , i think its his of lack pace that might be the problem, I could be wrong there

I feel we need some exp in backline , one or 2 players with some years still in them , picking them up for nothing won't hold back our young players we need a mixture.

Would make a mockery of Smorgan's youth policy claim. Okay, Scotland's turned out okay and Teague won a B&F but the other washed up players recruited (Harf, Morrel, Longmuir etal) have been nothing short of beefing up the Bullants chances in the VFL.

Makepeace was serviceable but having been delisted from a club finishing 14th says something. But that being sid, he would come very cheap in the PSD - assuming you keep Russell.

He is much quicker than what we have at the moment. Plus as I said before his clean disposal coming out of the backline is something we could really use.

Has been de-listed so can be picked up in national draft we could us our last pick would be handy pick up I believe

No to Makepeace

No to Gaspar.........can't even get on the park and I'd like to see his mobility since his foot injuries

If there aren't any good uncontracted players left, take a youngster.

Makepeace will not come to Carlton, and I will be furious if he did.

For one, he is too old.

Secondly, one reason he didn't get along with Laidley is because Troy wanted to play in the middle, whereas Laidley insisted on playing him in defense. Now, I ask you-would you prefer Makepeace in the team rather than guys like Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Walker, Bentick, Blackwell, Carrazzo and even Jackson? I sure as hell would not.

If Gaspar is fully fit, which I doubt he is, then we should consider him. If he is still struggling with injuries, then no way should he even come into consideration.

So, I think we should just pick another kid.

Agree, we're developing for our future, we can't pick up older players to block gaps in our structure (which is one of the reasons, although probably forced through draft penalities, we're where we are at the moment). I'm all for picking up someone young, maybe someone who's young with some talent and walked out of his club.

How about Aaron Edwards actually, he's still young and had a ripper season in the VFL.

No way.

1) He will be picked in the ND, most probably by the Kangaroos

2)Why do we need him? Would you prefer him over Fev, Waite, Fish, Kennedy? Or Lance? And he certainly wouldn't fit AS WELL as those guys.

I know he's not to mobile, but given his size (184) could he possibly play as a crumber? The only reason why I'd consider picking him up.

IMO Edwards is far more suited to being a target up forward. Would struggle as a crumber. He leads up the ground like a key forward, and is a target. Would only get in the way of our other key forwards.

Also, his attitude is very questionable. I'd pass thanks, take another kid.

We should be trying hard at Brisbane younsters a few pending , Hadely, Brenman, McGrath.
Any of these would be a great turnaround after a dull trade week and a positive assest to the team. Does any one have info on any of these guys?
Ciao :thumbsu:

he doesnt fit our youth policy and thats that. Would be a nice back pocket half back flanker though

In principle we need another ruck and Brooks was touted as a youngster, but he's been at two clubs already and not really set the world on fire and cemented a spot in the seniors.

I'm surprised there's not ruckmen in leagues like the SANFL or the WAFL we couldnt have a look at in trying to fill a void.
