I agree with what has been said on here today about the Cat over the mile. Think a better way to put it is that he's not as dominant at the mile but as has been pointed out his record is still pretty good. Just about untouchable over 1400 and I loaded up on him last time but will be changing camps this week as the distance is more in Marasco's pet zone.
 
Couldnt agree more Tassie, i think you put it perfectly. Do you think that the bookies will try to take on the Cat? Otherwise it may be a dull betting race.
 
Only have to look at this thread as an example, I reckon that punters will really have a crack at Marasco this week. On form, he probably doesn't deserve to start shorter than the Cat but I have no doubts that he will come race time.

IMO if you like the Cat, wait until Saturday as all of WA will be on Marasco and i can even see Vic punters favouring him so the Cat should get out - not by bookies taking him on but through weight of money for Marasco.
 
$2.20 eq faves on Sportsbet. I think i'll stick with the Cat(hope it drifts come Sat). I know Marasco is an up and comer, but might be worth noting his 8 wins have been between 1200-1400m??

That is a good point however he did finish a close second to Pompei Ruler in the G2 St George (1800) and of course 2nd to Pompei Ruler in the G1 Australian Cup (2000) which would indicate that he has no problems with that distance.
They both look pretty evenly matched but i think Marasco's run in the Aust Cup over 2000 is what is getting some of us a little excited.

Yeah, good point. Can't ignore those runs. I might just be content to double my money on the quinella.
 
i dont know why everybody is saying that the cat will struggle with the distance. He will run out a strong 1600m easily.
And on that subject wasnt marasco under pressure pretty early last start?
I think that the cat will get the run of the race again behind live in vain and maldivian.
The cat will hit the lead and again it will be wheather or not marasco will run it down.

I tip the Cat!

I will back sleek chassis one of my fav's after having a win on him in the diamond.
I think swick will also be a big chance.

Like both of them myself. Don't usually bet in straight races but might have a little on Swick on Saturday.

Final field of just 8 runners with the inevitable scratchings Marasco third up opens at 2.20 TAB, should get more between now and the jump. Maldivian and the Cat also 2.20 is unders he and Maldivian will ensure a fast pace but they will be run down.
The reduced field is good news for Zipping who won't have to pass as many and make up as much ground. $21 is a huge price even though first up, too good to refuse but i think we'll get more.

Marasco at $1.65 is a joke. There is no way the cat will reach $3.
And zipping :rolleyes:
The Cat will bill be a easing fav from about $2.2 out to 2.5 while there will be late money for marasco from $2.9 to about $2.7

If you think that Marasco is a true $1.65 chance you have a h3ll of a lot to learn about price assessment. Add in the fact that youve framed your market to 123% and its clear you havnt got the faintest idea what youre doing.
