How long will the Poms persist with this Grandpa? He seems to only have two shots - the slog sweep and the gentle nick through to the slips cordon.

Don't forget his other favourite shot. The top edge into his face

Is he good enough? No.

He is one-dimensional. Although I see there intent, they're hopeful Loye can play his shots from the outset leaving Joyce to work hard for his runs in the early overs. Pietersen can easily play Loye's role when he returns from injury and he is not one-dimensional. England, while not great in the limited overs game, are more than competitive that's if they get everything right.

Its a stupid shot anyway. These aren't local county bowlers who work in the veggie store Mal.

This is the bigtime.

Oh and how could we forget his other favourite shot.

The wobble on your feet hack from outside off stump.

i dont know about anyone else but on other forum sites ( mainly english) he has been hailed as a messiah and the solution to englands opening problems :p after one innings...

At least he is preapred to play shots, he's doing the Trescothick role which we are missing overall in the side...

Hmmm.... Benning, young-ish guy from Surrey... Carberry, won't get picked as he is a black Hampshire player... Solanki? Maybe, had his chance...

A well 'ard northerner > an overfed southerner any day of the week.;)

Owais Shah comes to mind.

While we're on this topic, Mascarenhas as well. He may as well have stayed in WA with the level of recognition he gets.

It's one of the Great Scandals in England OD Cricket history, by far one of the best OD All rounders in the game, can bat at 8 and even open the bowling, he can swing it and seam it and vary his pace a lot. It's his benefit year this year, Well deserved...
